This barbecue sauce is wonderful! If you are looking for a good barbecue sauce and don't feel like making your own, this is perfect! Keep in mind this isn't your traditional barbecue sauce (i.e. store bought crap), but this is the perfect addition to any fridge, barbecue or anyone looking to try a well made condiment. Don't let other people fool you, this tastes well by itself! Sure you can add sugar or ketchup, but if you wanted KC masterpiece crap, then go buy KC masterpiece crap. Five stars for sure!

Wow. This was awful.
You know how some barbeque sauces are sooo good you just can't stop eating. Even when you're bursting and should stop? Well, this one isn't it.

I had high hopes for this one as we love Stone brewery and there was no high fructose corn syrup or any other unnatural sounding ingredients in it unlike Phil's which was another BBQ sauce sold at Costco - where we bought this jug.

I took a chance and bought this to use it to make our 4th of July potluck contribution - shredded bbq chicken in the crock pot. First I cooked chicken breasts in the slow cooker with chicken broth and then shredded it and put it back in the cooker and was about to add the Stone Levitation Ale Barbeque Sauce to it when I tasted it and thought "Cr*p! This tastes awful and I'm going to have a LOT left over at the potluck."

But it gets four stars because it is easily doctored to taste good. And then you're left with a good tasting sauce with fairly healthy ingredients.

For those who, like me, thinks it's missing something and doesn't think it tastes good out of the bottle, my tip is to add sugar. I added a couple TBS white sugar and about 1/3 cup brown sugar to the half jug of sauce I mixed in with the chicken. Then I went online to look at bbq sauce recipes to see what else I could put it there.

My research on the net got me adding a couple long squeezes of ketchup and about 1/4 cup Apple Cider Vinegar. That did the trick. It is tasting like a real bbq sauce now. By the way, each time, I mixed the added ingredients with broth before adding it to the meat. And of course, add to your taste!

4 Stars for the doctored up version. Next time I'll buy another brand or make my own from scratch.
