4.0 out of 5 stars Stone Tower delivers dark, eerie ambiance., July 12, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Stone Tower (Audio CD)
Although not the best Delerium CD I have ever heard, Stone Tower is quite effective in creating a dark and sinister ambient mood. In true Delerium style, half-heard voices echo across the speakers and there is the ocassional startling abrupt change in music so you're not lulled into only half-listening. I've found my reaction to Stone Tower different to that of other Delerium albums I have; while albums like Semantic Spaces and Karma are soothing and at times relaxing, Stone Tower is not, somewhat like the beginning of Spheres I, because there's an underlying sense of anxiety. Overall, it's not a great album to relax to, but it is fun, especially if you happen to be in a somewhat darker mood. Recommended for those who are already Delerium fans.

5.0 out of 5 stars Lost Passion, Aftermath, Delerium, January 23, 2000
This review is from: Stone Tower (Audio CD)
In true "early" Delerium (Euphoric, Syrophrenikan, Stone Tower, Spiritual Archives) "Stone Tower" deals with the subjects of death, and the darker sides of hummanity. Leeb and Fulber never dissapointed me with one of there albums. In tower, like other early Delerium, you feel a common theme, or "story" going on while you listen. In this one, I interpret it as a story of grief and loss (as hinted by the first track) but it is probably deeper than that. Standout tracks are "Lost Passion" "Stone Tower" "Aftermath" "Tundra" and the VERY disturbing (its very VERY creepy) "Spirit."

5.0 out of 5 stars Solid Early Delerium, May 13, 2001
This review is from: Stone Tower (Audio CD)
This is yet another of the series of incredible albums which poured forth from the synthesizers of Bill Leeb and Rhys Fulber from 1987-1992 (one per year) as Delerium in the "early Delerium" period--as defined by yours truly. This disc is pretty average for early Delerium, but considering that early Delerium is superior by several orders of magnitude to the crap passing for music on the radio these days, "average" becomes a compliment. Stone Tower is also somewhat less scary than other Early Delerium releases, not nearly as sinister as Morpheus or Spiritual Archives. I recommend "Bleeding", with its glorious sound cascades and stigmata references, the bleak landscape of "Tundra", and the disturbing Darth Vader goes Scuba diving sound of "Spirit." "Aftermath" gets honorable mention for being a darn good song upstaged by a track of the same name on Spiritual Archives.

Yeah, so everybody knows that the Stone Tower is great. But what everyone may NOT know is that Cleopatra or Hypnotic or whatever completely busted up the tracklisting on the album; only listing 7 tracks when in fact there are 10.

So here is the correct list.
1. Lost Passion
2. Bleeding
3. Stone Tower
4. Aftermath
5. Tundra
6. Spirit
7. Red Hill
8. Sphere
9. Relics
10. Embryo

5.0 out of 5 stars Stone Tower [Cleopatra] ~ Delerium, May 6, 2005

This 1991 release from Delerium harkens back to the olde (yeah that was on purpose, just like Olde English 800) tymes of the band when they created heavy atmosheric music that is awesome to use when studying or for meditation. For the recent Delerium fan, it will sound very odd and not at all like their later releases, i.e., Poem or Chimera. Still this shows that Leeb and Fulber are very qualified musicians and composers in their own right and have the feel to be able to change for each new recording. This is a grand album that should be bought by fans of delerium and fans of great music in general.

5.0 out of 5 stars Stone Tower Delivers, February 16, 2005

This release by Delerium definitely delivered to the bona-fida hard core fans of Delerium. The music is certainly hypnotic, delightful to listen to and has some catchy tunes to whistle to walking down the street. For me the music of Delerium has become a release from the stresses of everyday life. What I love to do at the end of a hard week of work is relax and chill out with a beer and listen to most of the early Delerium CD's that this one I am reviewing is part of.
This CD is my third favourite behind Spiritual Archives and Euphoric. The song Aftermath I which is track 4 of the CD is definitely a definitive catchy piece of ambience. The bonus track 7 called Embryo is also a well crafted rythmic tune. Definitely this CD should not be overlooked by any keen Delerium fan.

5.0 out of 5 stars a masterpiece forever, July 31, 2006

this album along with "Spiritual Archives" are true gems. anyone who has even a slight interest in true and thought- provoking music should listen to these. in my opinion, the song "Aftermath" alone is worth a 5 star rating for the entire album. sadly the more recent Delerium is a far cry from the sort of synthesis that took place 15 years ago. the music making is still high quality but the spirit of those years is hard to find. get this album -- it is the real deal.

4.0 out of 5 stars I wish there was a Stone Tower film !!!, January 16, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Stone Tower (Audio CD)
I absolutely like Stone Tower! It is an instrumental album, relaxing, and very scary and dramatic too, but beautiful at the same time! On the actual CD are 10 tracks -three untitled ones. And because they don't have titles -and because the back cover is not very good, I give it 4 stars -but the music itself is good -except for the second track "Bleeding", it's a bit annoying -but that's my opinion.

5.0 out of 5 stars Music To Creep By, December 27, 2000
This review is from: Stone Tower (Audio CD)
I purchased this CD the same time that the original 'Blair Witch' movie came out. I loved both, and they created a wonderfully creepy Halloween atmosphere. It reminds me of the music that you would hear at the carnival carousel in 'Something Wicked This Way Comes'.

Great music to read Poe and H.P. Lovecraft to.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nicely creepy, April 8, 2002

This is a very solid release. I've had it for several years now, and it's my favourite Delerium album. Early stuff, but not suffocating and heavy like Syrophenikan or Morpheus.

There are 10 tracks on the CD, the last 3 are sadly untitled, Track 10 being the most notable one.

I just had a weird experience which prompted me to write this... I was driving alone at night, it's VERY quiet (rented car, got upgraded to luxury for free), in a sudden snow storm, driving into a town with no one else in sight, totally deserted looking, and Track 10 was playing. Hehe, spoooooky.

For anyone who's played Fallout 2, it's very similar to the track that plays when you're walking around desert/ghost town type places.
