"A New Sound For Streisand",
By Terry Richard "Terry Richard" (Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada) - See all my reviews (TOP 500 REVIEWER)
This review is from: Stoney End (Audio CD)
Barbra Streisand released two albums in 1971, "Barbra Joan Streisand" and this jewel "Stoney End". With "Stoney End" Barbra wanted to move into a new direction with her music. She wanted to conquer the pop industry so she recorded a series of songs that would appeal to this particular audience. The result was this album that went all the way into Billboard's Top 10, her first in over 5 years. The album would spawn 2 hit singles, the title track and "Time and Love". Other highlights are "I Don't Know Where I Stand", Gordon Lightfoot's "If You Could Read My Mind", and "I'll Be Home". "Stoney End" proved to be very successful for Streisand, garnering her another platinum album selling over 1.5 million copies.

This was "Funny Girl's" first venture into rock and she showed the world she could.
