Manny's New CD Rocks!, April 4, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Stonkin (Audio CD)
WOW! After just one listen, I was hooked. Manny Charlton and his new band blow any recent CD purchase I have made out of the water. The music on Stonkin' is 21st Century fresh. These guys are on the same page as Creed, Three Doors Down and all the great new rock and roll that has been released. The opening tune Pushin' Daisies sets the tone for a very guitar oriented rock album. When Manny was with Nazareth, he teamed up with guitartist Zal Cleminson to record "No Mean City." That was one of the greatest Nazareth albums of all time. Now by hooking up with Jimmy Williams on Stonkin' one can see how much power is put into the guitar work from these guys. Two guitar players really makes Stonkin' happen. Two other favorite tunes on the CD are Twisted and Sweet Love. The bass in Sweet love and Not Disappearing is fantastic. Kudo's to Mike Garza on the Bass. The vocals of Shaun Michaels give this CD a special Texas flavor as well. Last but not least drummer Mark Carver does not miss a beat. His drums are thunderous and would make Nazareth's late drummer Darrell Sweet very happy I am sure. If your a fan of classic rock or a fan of today's rock Stonkin' is for you. Like Pink Floyd's "Dark Side Of The Moon" this album is timeless.
