Format: Audio CD
First of all, the correct title of this album is Stony Plain's Christmas Blues - Stony Plain being the distributor - and it combines excellent sound reproduction with illustrations and interesting notes for the 14 tracks which features some of the best Blues artists ever to appear on a Christmas collection, all performing sides that are upbeat and sure to liven up any Holiday party. Note, too, that some of the sides run well over 5 minutes, with the shortest cut being 2:11 (track 13), so this CD will entertain for close to an hour.

Arranged by Andreas Shuld, the performers, not shown above, are: Duke's Christmas - The Duke Robillard Band; Christmas Time, Part 1 - Billy Boy Arnold (backed by The Duke Robillard Band); Switchin' In The Kitchen - Asleep At The Wheel (with The Roomful Of Blues Horns); Merry Christmas Everyone - Rosco Gordon (with The Duke Robillard Band); Santa Come Down - Big Dave McLean; No Money, No Honey - Maria Muldaur (with The Duke Robillard Band); Hootie's K.C. Christmas Prayer - Jay McShann (with The Duke Robillard Band); What Do You Really Want For Christmas? - The Rockin' Highliners (featuring vocalist Robert Dean); On A Christmas Day - Long John Baldry; Christmas 9-1-1 - Sonny Rhodes; Is This Gonna Last? - Kristi Johnston; Christmas Blues - Jimmy Witherspoon (with The Duke Robillard Band); Crazy Little Kitten For Christmas - Paul James; Mama - David Wilcox.

I purchased this last November and enjoyed it through the whole season. I was getting tired of the same old standards from my same old holiday collection, so I augmented it with some blues and rockabilly. It was a great idea, even if I do say so myself. I thoroughly enjoyed this addition to my Christmas playlist. I hate to state the obvious, but if you like blues and like Christmas tunes, this one should be added to your rotation. Even though it's "the Blues," it made me happy. It's a great Christmas listen!

This is my favorite Christmas album of ANY Christmas album.

Now, you may not love it as much as me - but if you like Christmas songs in a blue style then this album should be number 1 on your list for 2 reasons.

1) It's just a really fun album. Most of the songs are original (or at least not your usual covers of White Christmas, Baby Its Cold Outside, etc.) and just FUN. This is the music I listen to when I'm getting read for a Christmas party, driving around with friends looking at lights, or anything else social.

2) Given that its a compilation album, you get a number of different artists with different styles. Many Christmas albums, at least for me, I don't enjoy listening through (even if its a great album). Here, every song is unique.

I'd HIGHLY recommend giving this Christmas album a whirl! And if you do, tell em I said hi!
