Underrated, October 9, 2000
This review is from: Stoogemania [VHS] (VHS Tape)
It's kind of sad for two of the reviews. This movie is actually not the worst and I'd really love it if they re-released it. The previous reviews do not do the movie any justice. It's great if you're a great Three Stooges fan.

A real embarrassment to Stooge fans!!!, April 17, 2004
This review is from: Stoogemania [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I first saw this 1985 movie on TV many years ago, since I'm a Stooge fan,and at first I really liked this movie. But then a couple of months ago,I picked up a used vhs copy of the film at a pawnshop since I haven't seen this one in years and I thought I might enjoy this one the second time around.BOY,Was I wrong!!! This is by far one of the worst films of its time, especially for a Stooges fan like me! The plotline involves a chubby, obsessed Stooges fan named Howard F.Howard (Josh Mostel) who has been lately seeing the Three Stooges everywhere he goes such as restauraunts, phonebooths, hospital rooms, and even his own job.To stop his addiction,he meets a quirky psychatrist (Sid Caesar, who,by the way, appeared with The Three Stooges in the 1963 classic IT'S A MAD,MAD,MAD,MAD WORLD),but it's not helping so he ends up in a psychiatric hospital for Stooge-a-holics and winds up in all sorts of unfunny and boring comic situations. The film, directed by documentary filmmaker Chuck Workman, combines footage he shot with scenes from the four public domain Stooges shorts "Disorder In The Court",Brideless Groom","Malice In The Palice",and "Sing A Song Of Six Pants",for which,by the way, some
of the scenes from those shorts are COLORIZED!!! Yes,colorized,in some of the dream sequences, which makes it much worser!! This film would have been a lot funnier and better if were made by Columbia Pictures, who own the rights to the Stooges, and may have made the storyline more funnier and should've contained a lot more Stooges clips from their other shorts, but this film wasn't made by Columbia. It was independently produced by Atlantic Releasing Corp.I would advise anyone who loves or hates the Stooges to stay away from this piece-of-garbage film as it not only ruins the comic mastery that the boys made famous in their films, but it's also a real embarrassment to the Three Stooges legacy and their work!!! Avoid this at all costs!!
