Right on Target,
This review is from: Stop Bullying Bobby!: Helping Children Cope with Teasing and Bullying (Paperback)
I like the way the author presents a story about a girl who feels compassion for a classmate who is being bullied. So often people stand by helplessly and ignore situations like this. The child doesn't want to tattle but what she sees is so wrong she must confide in her parents. The teacher and the counselor become involved. The counselor has children participate in a puppet show where children do some role playing.
The victim gains confidence to behave more bravely and the bullies learn to respect differences. The author includes lists of valuable resources and suggestions for adults, peers, victims, as well as ways to help bullies change. The discussions about the book are very effective. Teachers and counselors can use the kind of puppet show which the counselor used in the book. The author works as a preschool service coordinator and behavioral consultant. She gives emotional and social support to children with special needs and their families.

My daughter loves this book. My daughter is Autistic and pictures with stories is the best way for my daughter to completely understand. This book provides that for her. Also the topic is important for any children but for one that is Autistic it is I feel more important.

This book is very good. We have had a few issues with my daughter being bullied and we decided to purchase this book. One of the things I like most, is the fact that it presents different types of kids and the reason why they can be bullied (race, color, religion, body type, personalities, etc). We have not read it more than twice, though. Hopefully I can get her to read it again and again (repetition is the key!)
