Excellent drain protector!,

The ONLY problem is that my shower drain is technically larger than the diameter of the protector. That being said, I decided to place it in the drain anyway. And everyday, all the time, it STILL catches hair in it! So I would say it works fabulously--only wish the diameter were larger.

Stop-a-Clog drain protectors are pretty good at catching hair in showers. It's soft so it doesn't hurt if you step on it and it doesn't create a pool of water from going down drain. There will be some pooling but not much. I've tried other traps and they end up acting like a mini stop-plug and you end up standing in a half inch of water when you shower. You can't go wrong with this one and it's cheap. Buy a bunch and throw it away after a while.

Great product for showers,

This one works great for showers because it has enough holes everywhere to really let water through so it doesn't fill up around your feet. We had previously tried the other kind which is mainly intended for bathtubs and it did not work nearly as well in a stall shower. Also it is soft rubbery so isn't a problem if you step on it. It is clear and unobtrusive. It is great at stopping hair, the hair winds around the lower part and is very easy to pull off. You get two stop-a-clogs in the package!

Disappointing Hair Trap,

This hair catch allows all but the largest floating debris to escape down the drain. The size of the strainer holes needs to be reduced.

Diameter was too small to cover the shower drain,

I so hoped this product would work, but it wasn't big enough to fit over our 4" shower drain. I think it would work for something 3" wide - tops, which is too bad. Might've been perfect otherwise. Measure your drain opening! My search continues....

This does not catch hair,
This review is from: Stop-A-Clog Drain Protector (Clear) (5" Diameter)
I bought this product for use in my shower and bathroom sink, both of which collect a lot of hair, and I was very disappointed. I have been using it for about a week, and it is catching about a 10% of the hair that other drain protectors I've used in the past have collected. When I first got the product, I suspected that the huge slits that are all over the top of it would be a problem, but interestingly, most of the hair isn't even passing over the top of the product; instead it is simply sliding underneath the product, around the suction cups, and right into the drain. I think this would be better suited for those looking to catch chunks and particles rather than hair.

Didn't stop hair; mildew grows quickly.,

This product didn't work for my needs. I have a lot of fine hair, and the hair went through the protector easily. So the tub continues to be clogged. Also, mildew grew on the protector very quickly. Gross. I've only had it for a few months and I'm going to throw it out because its useless.

After my fiance' moved in, we had a drain clog in the tub/shower. We used an electric auger from Rigid to "snake the drain". A plumber charges a $100. The coil at the end of the drain had so much hair that it looked like a dead mouse was stuck in the drain. The water again drained instantly! Once removed, we didn't want to have to do that again, so we researched all hair stopping devises we could find. Stop-a-clog seemed to be a good fit, inexpensive simple, cleanable and seemed most reviewers who were unsatisfied we using the protector on tile and even porous varieties, which we don't have. We have a new cast iron tub with porcelain finish which is a very smooth flat surface. The stop-a-clog sticks and doesn't move, even after stepping on its soft rubber-like dome, until you're ready to remove it. It looks fine too. We have a nice bathroom and we didn't want a cheesy looking product; worth it completely. After we shower, mainly when she showers, her long somewhat fine hair coils around the protector and it allows her to just pick up the fresh deposited hair, while it's clean and easily. Hair doesn't sick to hooks or anything, just lays at it's base. My hair even shows up in the protector and I have pretty short hair. Be careful if your using this on a concaved, porous (like stone) tile or where tile is small and grout lines will interfere with the six suction cups. I don't think this product would work well unless all of its suckers were adhered.

It does not work.,
This review is from: Stop-A-Clog Drain Protector (Clear) (5" Diameter)
I'm using this in a bathtub/shower. I have long hair and wanted to prevent clogs. The hair slips right under the product. It has little suction buttons (not cups) around the base. I have them as tight and flush to the tub as it will go. I've watch the hair stop at the rubber, then slip right through! Try a different brand, don't waste your money with this one.

Love This Product,

I have used the Stop A Clog Drain Protector for over 3 years now and have decided that I can't live without it. Recently my dad was visiting and while I was away at work, he throw my Stop A Clog in the dumpster because it was dirty. (He didn't realize it is machine washible.) My mom called me and told me that I needed to buy a new one. I went to a bunch of different stores but could no longer find the Stop A Clog anywhere. I ended up having to try five different hair strainers and found that none of worked. With each one I would end up with a pool of water around my ankles and hairs swimming around my feet. Yuck! Every time I showered I got mad because I couldn't replace my Stop A Clog. Then, just before I got in the shower tonight, it occoured to me that Amazon might have the Stop A Clog, after all, they have a lot of other great products that are hard to find. So I checked and sure enough, here it is. I am so excited! Nothing catches my long, thick hair like Stop A Clog does, while at the same time, alowing the water and leg hairs from shaving to swish down the drain. And it's much easier to remove the hairs then some of those other strainers where you have to pick all the gross hairs out one by one. With my Stop A Clog, I just wait for the hairs to dry, then I hold the strainer upside down over the waist basket and the hairs all slip out in one big chunk. Now that I have found a place that sells Stop A Clog, I can go back to enjoying my showers again!
