A very relevant book for those trying to handle it all. I found many useful lessons in this book and some very good coping mechanisms. Much of it is common sense but in a world where the motto is do more with less, it is very relevant. Sieg tells us that when we put more on our plate, we need to take some off. When you prioritize, you find the items that may need to be removed. Otherwise, if you try to have it all, you might end up in the emergency room with your health impaired.

Sieg uses her knowledge and experience of the emergency room to show the reader where some people just don't get it. One relevant example is the man who had a heart attack on April 14th, and left the hospital the following day to do his taxes. As the author reminds us, when you die--you're in box will not be empty.

A very good read for the modern times. Use of these principles will provide a better life.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is not your ordinary self-help book., August 22, 2002

This book is fabulous. Once I got into the book I soon discovered that I couldn't wait for the next story after the introduction in each chapter. It was such a fun read and the stories kept me turning the pages. The way Diane weaves human emergencies into everyday life issues is brilliant. It makes so much sense. It was easy to see the problems and connect with them. It was also an eye opener to stressful lifestyles I unconsciously practice and what can happen if I don't make a change. Having experienced some of them personally, it brought the issues home to me.

Stop Living Life Like An Emergency is truly a practical gude for what to do to overcome self destructive ways with down-to-earth strategies on how to make productive and effective changes.

I must thank Diane Sieg for writing this book and sharing her self-care strategies in such a refreshing way - this is not your ordinary self-help book. It is fun to read, makes a whole lot of sense, and helps old stubborn gals like me see just how easy change can be.
