This book should be re-released!!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Stop the Medicine!: A Medical Doctor's Miraculous Recovery with Natural Healing (Hardcover)
The author went to medical school and decided not to continue with her studies and get her license to practice medicine. The reason is she got sick and "modern medicine" could do nothing to help. She came to the conclusion that she had wasted her time learning a medicine that actually did more harm than good. You will be shocked to see an "insiders" story about the medical profession. What do they really think when they perform all these worthless, painful tests on patients? If she had continued and gotten her license to practice medicine and had even suggested herbs or vitamins to her patients, they would have yanked her license. Even suggesting someone take vitamin E is "unconventional" and will make you a target of the establishment. I wish Amazon had this available, I found mine at the vitaminshoppe. This book is timely and would have a much bigger audience now than it did in 99. I see a lot more people opening their eyes to the medical establishment and turning their backs on it. Did you know nurses have to wear very thick gloves when they administer chemotherapy? Otherwise, they could burn a hole in their skin! The also have to be sure to inject it directly into the vein, not into the tissues, where it would kill all the tissue it touches. I think this is a remainder book now, I hope everyone can find it somewhere or it is re-released.

FIVE STARS!! - and this recommendation is coming from a former operating room technician and the wife of a retired physician/surgeon. I highly recommend this for anyone who wants to take charge of their life - and their health. You may not agree with everything in Dr. Foster's book - but you will be forever changed in the way you look at conventional medicine and those who are your care-givers. Read It! and Be Informed!

Author's Comment: I've read this book several times because I wrote it. I was diagnosed in 1994 with seizures by an R.N., suffered daily for 2 years with them as the result of an adverse reaction to a Hepatitis B vaccine administered 6 months before entering medical school. Since the time of my healing, I have remained seizure-free for over 14 years. I have devoted my life to educating people about how to heal themselves naturally. To this end, I have founded an herbal company and created a large website with in-depth articles and continue to help people heal from their supposedly "incurable" diseases. More information about the specific methods I used to cure my own epilepsy (as well as the natural methods that I have seen work for thousands of people all over the U.S.) can be found at the Dr. Foster's Essentials website. I am continually awed at the profound experience I had during my medical training - watching the stark contrast between patients who visited natural healers and patients who followed conventional medical advice. It was a rare opportunity to see these methods side by side in order to compare and contrast their effectiveness.

A friend had lent me this book when I felt my body was getting abused by the health care system. The doctors were taking too many tests that were all inconclusive and I really felt fine. I just went in for a check up and the next thing I knew I was scared to death. Reading this book got me back to myself, controlling my health by controlling my diet and gave me confidence in staying away from the "drug doctors". I firmly believe in treating the illness not the symptom. This book helped me more than any diagnostic test ever did. I bought this copy so I could read it again a year later to review.

Thank God she isn't practicing medicine.,

When I first was reading this book I really enjoyed it. It was interesting, and I thought I would learn a lot. Other than medical bashing I didn't learn anything else. Not any depth about how she healed herself, or what she eventually did with her education, medically - or holistically. As far as medicine she literally threw out the baby with the bath water.
First off, this woman claimed she had a serious thyroid condition and seizures, yet she never got medical diagnostics or diagnosis - so how does she really know what she had, or in fact got cured from? Secondly this was a book long rant (preaching) against every facet of the medical profession. Constant spewing of negatives and vemom, with sarcasms thrown in here and there. She never - in the whole book - had anything good to say about anything or anyone, except her lover, who could do no wrong at all (like she put him on a pedestal) - BUT, she walked away from him to go after her dream of "getting the message out about natural medicine" - but then took menial jobs. In the end of the book she admits she used her illness to keep people away. Even after she was supposedly cured she ended up on the floor again for a couple of days, and this time it was plainly emotional caused. She supposedly spent much of her time on the floor (mostly having seizures or unconscious, or from extreme exhaustion) while she was training to become a doctor. She constantly claimed she couldn't wake up or keep herself awake or function, didn't have the energy to walk etc., yet she carried on her full medical training and expectations. She did seem to have plenty of energy to play `games' to hide from everybody what she was doing. Also, if she literally was not functioning on the level she claims she wouldn't have had the energy to study all the natural medicines like she did, and do all the natural foods and medicines preparations, while also carrying her full load in medical training. Sounded awfully contradictory to me. Toward the end of the book she spoke about how people thought she had mental health issues, and from the things said in this book it certainly sounds plausible. Oh, and she would periodically talk about doctors callousness, yet there were a few instances where she seemed just as calloused and cold as the ones she complained about. It seems a good thing she did not become a doctor. After ranting against the medical establishment throughout the whole book (often justifiably), she then did an epilog pretty much doing an about-face. All through the book she had been totally against any medical care of any type, but in the epilog it was a totally different story. And, she said that in order to heal you have to let go of the doctor bashing, the anger and bitterness etc. So, my impression of the book ends up being that it was mainly a way to pay her medical tuition expenses that she had no way of paying since she was doing nothing but menial jobs. I personally wish I had left the book on the shelf. |
