About the Author

Award-winning author, Sally O. Lee earned her BA in Studio Art and Art History (with distinction) from Colby College and then went on to study graphic design and painting in Boston (Art Institute of Boston) and in New York City (New York Studio School). She has had several shows of her work and received an art grant from The Massachusetts Institute of Technology to conceive and create a series of paintings, and from this came her 2002 exhibition- A Journey Into Abstraction. Some of Ms. Lee's paintings are in various private collections in the US. In recent years, Ms. Lee has begun to write and illustrate children's books. Some of them deal with the struggles of living with some form of handicap...or, as the author prefers to call it, imperfection. Many of her illustrations have been published and she has earned both academic and public recognition for her important work in children's books. She has had illustrations published in Worldlink Magazine, IEEE Magazine, and several other publications. Sally lives and works in Massachusetts. Sally Lee writes "My children's books are an extension of my work as a painter. Writing is a new addition for me, and I am enjoying it very much. And creating the illustrations is a perfect way to continue my painting in a new direction and a nice way to complement my writing. I hope to write and illustrate many more". Ms. Lee most recently won The Pinnacle Achievement Award for "Is there a monster over there?". Earlier awards include: Reader View’s Reviewer’s Choice Award – 2nd place – Children - Toddler to Five - 2008 for “The Tutu Ballet”. She also won Best Picture Book – 2008 for “The Cake Thief”, and Best Children’s Book – 2008 for “The Rabbit and The Snowman” from BooksandAuthors.net. And most recently, the Family Choice Award 2009 for *“No, Never!”*

4.0 out of 5 stars Beautifully Detailed, February 22, 2010
This review is from: Stop it! (Paperback)
Our 3 year old is not a bully, but she can certainly be mean, especially to her little brother. This is probably more sibling rivalry than bullying, but it's still a concern. I'm sure what happens in our home is fairly normal, but it still bothers us, as parents.

I think this book will help our younger son stand up for himself when he's a bit older. In the book the brother, George, is a bully and mean to his sister, Anabel. It isn't until George holds the cat Lulubell by the tail that Anabel has enough and yells, "Stop it!" George sees the error of his ways and he apologizes by giving Anabel her wand. She is forgiving and crowns him king.

This book and its message is sweet. Though it may be very simple in the apology and forgiveness aspect, it shows how two children forgot the past and moved on from it. These illustrations are quite adorable, too! They certainly appeal to my daughter. Sally O. Lee brings the story and pictures together beautifully in Stop It!

3.0 out of 5 stars How to Stop Bullying, January 29, 2010
This review is from: Stop it! (Paperback)
Stop It by Sally Lee is a book about being bullied. Anabel is a little girl that is bullied by her brother George. In the end, she tells George to STOP IT! and he stops being a bully. While this book has a good message (don't be a bully, don't let a bully bother you) it's kinda abrupt. Basically, all Anabel does is tell her brother to stop it and he stops being a bully. Will this happen in real life? I doubt it. Is it a good first step in teaching your child how to deal with bullies? Definitely. A bully won't stop unless you stand up to them and this sort of teaches how to do it. Will it have a happy ending like Anabel? Who knows. I would hope every situation would end like this but I doubt it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Will appeal to children ages preschool to 8, January 20, 2010
This review is from: Stop it! (Paperback)
"Stop It!" is an artistic creation by accomplished artist/author Sally Lee about how a child named Annabel learns to deal with bullying behavior from her brother George. When he picks up her cat Lulubell by her tail, Annabel takes charge and yells at George, "Stop it!" All ends well in this modern fable of self defense, as George learns that bullying is not fun for the bully-er and there are better ways to play together. Wonderful, fanciful paintings with childlike clarity tell the story along with the sparse, specially chosen script. "Stop It!" is a child's how-to book about relationships with fully helpful instructive pictures. It will appeal to children ages preschool to 8.
