3.0 out of 5 stars How to Stop Bullying
Stop It by Sally Lee is a book about being bullied. Anabel is a little girl that is bullied by her brother George. In the end, she tells George to STOP IT! and he stops being a bully. While this book has a good message (don't be a bully, don't let a bully bother you) it's kinda abrupt. Basically, all Anabel does is tell her brother to stop it and he stops being a bully...

4.0 out of 5 stars Beautifully Detailed, February 22, 2010
This review is from: Stop it! (Paperback)
Our 3 year old is not a bully, but she can certainly be mean, especially to her little brother. This is probably more sibling rivalry than bullying, but it's still a concern. I'm sure what happens in our home is fairly normal, but it still bothers us, as parents.

I think this book will help our younger son stand up for himself when he's a bit older. In the book the brother, George, is a bully and mean to his sister, Anabel. It isn't until George holds the cat Lulubell by the tail that Anabel has enough and yells, "Stop it!" George sees the error of his ways and he apologizes by giving Anabel her wand. She is forgiving and crowns him king.

This book and its message is sweet. Though it may be very simple in the apology and forgiveness aspect, it shows how two children forgot the past and moved on from it. These illustrations are quite adorable, too! They certainly appeal to my daughter. Sally O. Lee brings the story and pictures together beautifully in Stop It!

3.0 out of 5 stars How to Stop Bullying, January 29, 2010
This review is from: Stop it! (Paperback)
Basically, all Anabel does is tell her brother to stop it and he stops being a bully. Will this happen in real life? I doubt it. Is it a good first step in teaching your child how to deal with bullies? Definitely. A bully won't stop unless you stand up to them and this sort of teaches how to do it. Will it have a happy ending like Anabel? Who knows. I would hope every situation would end like this but I doubt it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Will appeal to children ages preschool to 8, January 20, 2010
This review is from: Stop it! (Paperback)
"Stop It!" is an artistic creation by accomplished artist/author Sally Lee about how a child named Annabel learns to deal with bullying behavior from her brother George. When he picks up her cat Lulubell by her tail, Annabel takes charge and yells at George, "Stop it!" All ends well in this modern fable of self defense, as George learns that bullying is not fun for the bully-er and there are better ways to play together. Wonderful, fanciful paintings with childlike clarity tell the story along with the sparse, specially chosen script. "Stop It!" is a child's how-to book about relationships with fully helpful instructive pictures. It will appeal to children ages preschool to 8.

4.0 out of 5 stars Cute Kids' Story, December 14, 2009
This review is from: Stop it! (Paperback)
Stop It! is a cute children's story that purports to be about bullying, but which really deals more with sibling spats. George is introduced as a bully; and Anabel as his sister. Anabel has a cat named Lulubell. Anabel likes to play dress-up but George doesn't like it when she does. He picks at the cat, which annoys Anabel, who get angry and tells him to stop it. Then he sees Anabel treat the cat well, and feels badly. He didn't know what do to, he picked up Anabel's wand and gave it to her, at which time she made him a prince.

My five year old enjoyed the book. As one of five kids, I could relate to the sibling picking; but as the baby behind two big ones, she didn't quite "get" it. She said Anabel shouldn't have yelled, and wanted to know why George was picking at her cat. George sounds a lot like one of my brothers. I recommend this book for the 4-6 year old age group.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Beginner Read, December 5, 2009
This review is from: Stop it! (Paperback)
I have read and reviewed several of author, Sally O Lee's books and I always enjoy them. They are simple reads that will leave the child with a simple lesson shown in a fun way.
In this book Anabel is the star, she has a brother named, George and a cat named,Lulubell.

George is a bully. He hurts Lulubell and picks on Anabel. Anabel tires of this and tells him to stop. George is sorry for what he did and Anabel rewards him for being sorry. This is a very good book for beginning readers. It is a short story and a gives a lesson as well. Cute illustrations, colorful and bright. Nice book young ones will enjoy.

3.0 out of 5 stars A great book to start a conversation with your kids about bullying, December 4, 2009
This review is from: Stop it! (Paperback)
How do you stop a bully? By standing up for yourself and firmly shouting: Stop it!

This little book helps kids (and siblings) stand up for themselves and shows bullies it's not okay to tease others. A great book to begin a conversation with your kids about the subject.

4.0 out of 5 stars Stop It!, November 21, 2009
This review is from: Stop it! (Paperback)
Anabel likes to play dress-up and George likes to tease her by stealing her dress up clothes and pulling her cats tail.

Stop It is a cute short story with brilliant illustrations, but while the book is supposed to be centered around being a bully I feel it displays more of a sibling rivalry theme.

Regardless of the theme it still makes a wonderful first book for a child who is beginning to explore in reading with short sentences and few words on the pages.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fun even for adults!, November 10, 2009
This review is from: Stop it! (Paperback)
What a fun book. Like it because once Anabel sees her younger brother George being mean to her cat Lulubell, she yells 'Stop It'!! And he realizes he has behaved badly and how hurt his sister is and how sad the cat is, and he does what is right. He apologizes, which children should be taught to do and the story ends well. And I LOVE the illustrations. While its a book for children, I also recommend it to adults who love books with whimsical, delighful, and fun illustrations.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Bully Can Change, November 10, 2009
By
This review is from: Stop it! (Paperback)
Stop It! is the story of Anabel and her brother, George, the bully. Every time Anabel wants to play nicely, George is there to cause a little chaos. He seems to always want to make Anabel unhappy! Something happens, though, which causes George to rethink his negative actions.

This is a short, simple children's book which is well-written, and illustrated by the author. I highly recommend it.
