From Booklist
Parenting preadolescent and early adolescents can be tricky, as Goldstein and Gallant point out in this guide to everyday concerns and major issues. They recommend open channels of communication, especially with regard to listening to the child, and establishing sensible limits. They offer no magical solutions but do give specific, possible responses to cope with disrespect toward adults; fads, from hairstyles to video games; sibling rivalry; pet care; religious and family celebrations; and peer pressure. Although there is a mountain of resources for handling infants and young children (including Everyday Parenting and More Everyday Parenting by these authors), this guide for parents of older children will be welcome.
