To end this movie, the little boy who can't fall asleep finds he cries wolf too many times to be heard by the naughty storytelling sitter.

I like the B style "scary" movies every now and then. If you enjoy this type of movie I would recommend giving it a try.

The video quality is pretty bad. It's only slightly better than when someone digitizes a VHS movie at 320x200 instead of 720/640x480 because that's what they think VHS quality is. The first story is so dark you can barely see what's going on. Even so it's a really quirky and slightly bawdy tongue-in-cheek horror movie. I love how casual the uncle/storyteller is about telling adult bedtime stories to his nephew. I think Goldilocks and the Three Bears was my favorite, but all of the stories had some twist that made things interesting in a goofy way. It kind of reminded me of Full Moon High with Adam Arkin.

Nothing beats scaring the little ones right before bedtime, although I'm not quite sure this movie would do it since its more of a comedy of sorts.
Very corny tales told in a somewhat ridiculous manner of witchcraft, werewolfs, and telekinetic murderess, all based on twisted versions of Mother Goose. It's a very odd movie that works in sequence but starts out of restless lad wanting to be told bedtime stories to make him sleep in the dreaded dark. The macabe relative to the rescue who refuses to dish out a true mother goose tale the way it was written, and decides to add his own rather gruesome twists.
I happened to like this movie, and its corniness because it gave me a comedic break from the heavy handedness of real critically acclaimed horror flicks. No one tale exceeds over the rest because they are told from the same storyteller with his reliance on the dark side of things. You can tell by the subject of the fairytale gruesomes that the adult was also restless.
GOLDILOCKS I happened to like better than the rest because it was downright cheesy, about a beautiful babe out in the woods that was a boy magnet. Her charms, however, were all for naught as most of her temporary dates got slaughtered by her own wishful thinking. That is until she comes across three family fugitives, with the lustful "baby bear" strapping lad who does not fall so easily, and therefore puts her in her place. He just so happens to like the mindful frolic he receives from her. The country folksters who parent baby bear are a hoot, and they initiate Goldi into their clan of hoodlums. Her mindful hand with outsiders fits right in with their line of thinking of do gooders who uphold the standards of society.
To end this movie, the little boy who can't fall asleep finds he cries wolf too many times to be heard by the naughty storytelling sitter.

Back in the 'day', my baby brother and I had to rent a VCR and watch movies on a black and white television!! This was several firsts for us, first horror movie we snuck past mom, first color movie we got to watch on our huge new 13" tv, and the first time we saw nudity onscreen. So needless to say, this movie could be the worst in the world and I'd still love it, but actually, sentiment aside, it's actually not a bad little b-movie. Hilarious dialogue and slapstick on some but some actually creepy little bits in Red Riding's story...and who can resist seeing academy award winner Melissa Leo in one of her earliest appearances.
