This review is from: Stories for Christmas by Charles Dickens (Hardcover)
If you are looking to buy this book, I imagine you are not looking for a review of Dickens' work, but rather a review of this collection itself. This book contains 3 Christmas novels and 15 short stories. The novels are A Christmas Carol, The Chimes, and The Cricket on the Hearth. Needless to say, the stories are wonderful and represent a great Christmas collection of Dickens' work. The book itself is a green hardcover, well constructed, and has gold gilt pages and an attached red bookmark. It looks very nice on the book shelf and appears constructed to last. My complaint is with the ink on the pages. For some reason the printing was a little sloppy and on almost every page there are smudged letters in the printing process. Only rarely does this make the word illegible, but it does detract from the attractiveness of the book. The introduction is only mediocre, with a scant 4 pages of basic background information on Dickens.

For the price of this book, it is a great value at prices of $10-20. Considering this book is priced just over some paperback versions, its a very nice buy. If you are willing to spend $80-100 there are much nicer leather bound collections with beautiful hand painted illustrations. It just depends on what you want and are willing to spend.
