This review is from: Stories from the Country of Lost Borders by Mary Austin (American Women Writers) (Paperback)
It turns out that this book is a combination of two previously published books by Austin, namely "Land of Little Rain" and "Lost Borders", together with an extensive introduction by the editor. Evidently "Land of Little Rain" is the pinnacle of Austin's work as a writer. The fictional stories from "Lost Borders" are diverting but are not up to the high artistic standard set by the nonfiction sketches in "Land of Little Rain". The introduction is interesting, particularly for the biographical information about Austin.
