5.0 out of 5 stars Touching Album includes Wedding Song
Bob Carlisle did it again. He managed to put out one of his best albums yet. To my surprise I found the wedding song I want to dance with my Dad in my wedding this November. I have to listen to it over and over just to keep from crying. Somehow, Bob Carlisle always sings about different relationships as if he knew them and understood them. God bless Mr. Carlisle...

3.0 out of 5 stars No Stories To Be Told Here
Unfortunately, this album does not top Butterfly Kisses. Instrumentally, Bob Carlisle has done nothing new here. In fact, he takes the rich melody of his Butterfly Kisses album down a notch, and leaves the listener with a monotone expression of himself, and a forced attempt to reach the sentimentality of his previous album. If you already have Butterfly Kisses, then...

This young man is able through his music to add warmth and love. The Lord is present in ALL his songs as they radiate his love for the important people in his life. We used three songs from this one CD for our daughters wedding. We even used Fathers Love. It had everyone in tears as a fathers love, Kelley's dad and our heavenly fathers was felt throughout the room. You won't find a better CD anywhere to help put speical touches on that wonderful day.

5.0 out of 5 stars Moving songs and storys with excellent production value, March 17, 1999

This is an excellent album. Reminds me of some of the better work of Dan Fogelburg and early Christopher Cross. Not a throw away song on the disk. Bob Carlise, I look forward to your next recording.

If everyone served God and loved there kids as much as B.Carlisle this world would be a better place. We fall down we get up is a moving song. Also father's love excellent stuff to fill your mind with, compared to some of the secular stuff out there today.

I had bought this CD for one particular song(Father's Love), but discovered Track 1 which is a version of We Fall Down, which has since become my favourite song on the CD. Those two songs alone make this a good buy.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Follow Up That Does The Job And More!, March 6, 2004
By
This review is from: Stories From the Heart (Audio CD)
Bob Carlisle never expected "Butterfly Kisses" to even make it on the "Shades Of Grace" album. In fact, Carlisle was coerced by the record label to include the sensitive ballad. Flash forward to one determined disk jockey, and the rest, as they say is history. What folks don't realize is that Bob Carlisle is and was a pioneer in Christian music. He spent most of the 1980's in a hard rock (with soul) band called Allies. Vocally, Carlisle is as strong as Paul Carrack, Michael Bolton or Lou Gramm. And with the stakes raised a notch or two thanks to "Butterfly", the follow up pressure must have been incredible.

Well, regular radio was not friendly to "Stories From The Heart". But it contains two songs that are worth the entire price of the disc. "Father's Love" is the natural choice to follow "Kisses" onto AC radio. What happened? Could be the Christian thing. I know radio and I know music and it's likely if God or Jesus appears to much in a song, programmers are probably not jumping for joy. It's sad that every format seems to cross over with ease-except Christian. Especially when the lyrics and music are so much more suitable for rides in the station wagon. "Father's Love" is a brilliant story illustrating the depth and warmth of a father's love for his children. Bob Carlisle sings with such richness and control, that no melody is safe from enhancement. Enter "We Fall Down". A chilling story of a man's quest to learn about what goes on inside a monastery. Carlisle drags the lyric like a man climbing a hill with a 1000 pounds on his back. "We fall down and get up...the saints are just the sinners who fall down and get up..." Okay, so if the chills haven't set in, or the tears flowing, then do you have a pulse? Bob Carlisle is a master craftsman. Not cheesy or pretentious. He's been in this business for a long time. And his experience and talent are never more on display then on this collection. I highly reccomend it. P.S.-the other songs aren't bad either!!!
