Stories From Hollywood...A Best Seller!,
By Mikey (Adelaide, South Australia) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Stories From Hollywood (Audio CD)
Although I don't have this album yet, as it won't be released for a week, I just wanted to urge everyone who reads this listing to buy a copy of "Stories From Hollywood" from new artist Jon Peter Lewis. A fantastic guy, very friendly and talented, a great singer, songwriter, guitarist, producer, and very fashionable (I still want that green velvet jacket), this album will be a huge hit upon its release. The songs, some of which I've heard as downloads or previews are awesome and Jon alternates between a powerhouse rocker and a heartfelt balladeer, and sometimes achieves both at the same time.
November 7 - Stories From Hollywood - Jon Peter Lewis - Be there or be square! Cheers, Mikey :)

My brief review,

I received the CD yesterday and have been listening to nothing else since then. I've been a fan of Jon since he was on Idol, and the album was definitely worth the wait. The songs are catchy with amusing lyrics. One of the best Idol releases yet - give it a try!

I didnt watch AI when Jon was on there. So i didnt really have an idea of what he was all about. But i still felt that i could give the cd a try and see how it turned out. I enjoyed it after my first listen honestly. One or two tracks that i didnt like but other than that. The cd as whole is worth a purchase by anyone into an artist that has a variety of styles on one cd and makes it work...then check out "Stories from Hollywood".
Nice song selection and vocals on the cd as well hope to hear more from JPL in the future. I'm now interested and more in the know on him.

The more I listen to this CD, the more I love it. There's such an excellent mix of rock songs and ballads, many with catchy hooks that I keep finding myself humming. These are original songs that are well written and beautifully sung. Don't miss your chance to listen and enjoy.

"Indie Idol - Jon Peter Lewis",
By
This review is from: Stories From Hollywood (Audio CD)
This album has some of the best songs I've heard lately. Man From Amsterdam is one of them. It's definitely not one of those albums where every song sounds the same. As summed up by veteran DJ, JD Matthews, "It's one of those rare CDs that I can actually listen to over and over again, continue to enjoy, and still get something new out of it with each rotation. This is one CD purchase you should make. Give it a chance, and you'll understand why Jon is, indeed, the "Indie Idol."
On another note, Sky Elobar is Jon's bass player and a phenomenal musician. As a permanent member of Jon's band, he is a testament to Jon's talents. Sky only works with the best and most promising artists and musicians. Kudos to Jon, Sky, and all who were involved in making this superb album!!

Love the variety of songs. This is superb,
This review is from: Stories From Hollywood (Audio CD)
This album is great. One of the things I most like about it is the variety of songs. There are so many albums I buy where all the songs sound the same. Not so with this one. And, it's an album I keep putting back in my car. Great rock songs, and beautiful acoustic tunes. JPL has pulled it off and there are a number of songs I'd like to hear on the radio. Man from Amsterdam,If I Go Away, Amanda Grace, Boy Next Door and Man Like Me. Bravo Jon. Waiting for more from you!

Great CD!,

I've had this CD since it first came out and am just now getting around to writing a review for it. I love it! There's a good variety of songs and it is one of those rare CDs that I actually like every song, yet each song is very different from the next. If you get a chance to see Jon perform these songs live, I highly recommend it. You won't be disappointed, just left with wanting to hear more. Which is exactly what we get to do as I hear he is currently working on his second CD! I highly recommend 'Stories from Hollywood'. It's a great one to take on long road trips as listening to the 'Stories' in each song is a good cure for boredom. Jon and his band have a nice original sound in each and every song.

It's Interesting,
This review is from: Stories From Hollywood (Audio CD)
I bought this for my wife who really loves JPL, but only knew of his performances on American Idol. Like most AI contestants' albums, the album is not representative of his performances there. Rather, it's his own style. I can't say that I love the album, but it's not terrible either. It's a good mix of styles, so you won't get bored with the same-sounding song over and over again.

Enjoyable CD,
This review is from: Stories From Hollywood (Audio CD)
Enjoyable CD from start to finish, with a variety of musical style and nearly every song is good.
Boy Next Door is catchy, containing some provocative lyrics, and perhaps an appropriate first track as a warning not to expect clean, wholesome, cheesy music despite this artist's religious background. What's Wrong looks to be an interesting take on the AI contestant's backstage experience. Gypsy Queen, Man from Amsterdam, and If I Go Away are the obvious potential hits worthy of radio play, with great rock melodies and hooks. Rodeo is novelty, but cute and funny, adding a lighthearted break within this storytelling CD. Burning in Hello shows a different, sexy, steamy vocal range within a catchy rock melody. Amanda Grace, while not standing out as the best tune on the CD, shows JPL's vocals at their peak, reminding fans that the potential seen in this guys' original AI audition was well worth waiting for...within some nice acoustics. Overall, fans of AI season's three "pensalesman" are likely to be very pleased with this long awaited CD. Critics previously labeling this guy as the season's "dancing monkey" should be pleasantly surprised. For the average listener, worth the purchase, and a great start for a new artist.
