Whiplash,

I listen to a lot of acoustic guitar music, from Alex deGrassi to Leo Kottke, but "Stories" actually made me sit up and take notice so quickly that I got whiplash. What an awesome sound! Great blend of rhythms and phrasing - not your aimless noodling of a lot of "new-age" stuff available today. I have recommended this to several of the news groups that I subscribe to, and I don't do that very often. At first, I was kinda put off by the vocals, but after listening a few times, they just seemed right - not really Enya, but you get the idea. Buy it now! You won't regret it. And this review is from someone outside of Ohio...

Fresh and new...,

This is such tasty stuff. Even though the melodies are quite memorable (and hummable...), it's jazz, it's folk, it's gentle world rhythms...very adventurous, but still easy to get next to. Not only is John in top form on the guitar, but the other instruments add rich layers of texture. The stories on the liner notes and web site are a nice touch, too.

John Morgan's first release "The Journey" has lots of different moods. This one has many different styles...and simply spun my head around at times. The sparing addition of some additional musicians on certain compositions really took things up a notch in my opinion. I've already given this album to a few of my friends.

This is a lot more than a guitar album. Very nice!,

I don't think I've ever heard anything much like this album. I guess it's supposed to be a guitar album, because the guitar is out front and leads the music. But there's some other cool stuff here, too...kinda like a really nice soup. I really like the girl's voice (no words, just melodies and harmonies) and there's some fun percussion, too. I suppose it's not the kind of thing everybody would like, but I thought it was very cool.
