About the Author
Jaklin Çelik moved with her family from an Armenian quarter in the predominantly Kurdish city of Diyarbakir, to the Sangate district in Istanbul, Turkey when she was six years old. She still lives in Istanbul. This is her first book.

Stories from the Sandgate has the best collection of experiences from Turkey. Everybody says that Turkey, especially Istanbul is a multi-cultural and complex city. However, Jaklin Celik shows that it is possible to read this city and country with the help of a childish, humorous, and curious look. If you want to see how the troublesome history of Turkey finds a way to be lived in modern times, you should read Jaklin Celik's book that full of human stories from Istanbul and Turkey.
