Stories for Young Readers, Book 1 presents clear, grammatically simple and direct language appropriate to the levels and interests of students in elementary and junior high ESL classes. The grammatical structure of the texts progress from simple present and present continuous to simple past and simple future with "will". The texts, illustrations, questions and puzzles work in concert to provide an opportunity for younger ESL students to be successful. Without unusual vocabulary or difficult idioms, student and teacher can focus on basic grammar, vocabulary, reading, listening, and pronunciation skills. Because of the multi-cultural nature of the texts, they are useful in classes in any country where English is taught as a second language.
