I bought the tower despite the bad reviews and so far I think I made a great decision. I didn't buy it at Babies R Us, but chose another vendor instead that offered free shipping and ended up costing a bit less. I ordered the tower on 10/28/05 and it arrived 11/23/05, which wasn't a problem since I knew that Stork craft products tend to take awhile to ship, so I ordered early. The box came in perfect condition and when we took it apart all the pieces where undamaged, in great condition and there was nothing missing.
It took my mom and I (I am 5 months pregnant) an hour to put it together, the directions where easy to follow and the assembly was a piece of cake. The only difficulty is to screw on the back panel. There were a million screws, so have your electric screwdriver handy. Also be careful with those screws the tolerances are very close and the wood is soft so is you don't screw them in just right you may end up with screws sticking out. We simply redid them and now there are a few chips in the back of the tower, nothing to worry about.

Upside

* Looks absolutely amazing. The wood is beautiful and shiny, the design is elegant and looks great in the room
* The drawers are deep and allow for lots of storage. Easy to take out and are finished with white on the inside for a very clean and appealing look.
* The side cabinet is great. Shelves can easily come out to allow for larger items to be stored. Might be a good place for a diaper genie...
* Very sturdy and heavy, and as a bonus comes with a wall attachment so that you don't have to worry about it tipping when the little one starts walking.
* The top of the tower can be used as a changing table, or you can buy a hatch that can be easily attached for additional storage.
* Very easy to assemble, everything is predrilled and the directions are super easy.

Downside

* The wood is very soft, so you have to be careful during assembly not to chip or damage the pieces.
* While most of the tower is very sturdy the back panel is made out of flimsy material and the screws are a pain to use. In hint sight we should have nailed the back panel.

Overall absolutely great product. Functional and looks really beautiful. I suggest ordering elsewhere and ordering early, in case there are problems.

This is a sturdy, beautiful, functional piece. We purchased this combo, the hutch, 5 drawer dresser and Rochester crib. I put this together myself in about 45 minutes and I am 6 months pregnant. I have not assembled the hutch yet, since the nursery is not yet complete, but I can't wait to see it together! I am very pleased with my purchase. It looks exactly as shown, although the oak was a little darker than I expected.
I'll post my review on the crib when I get it together!

My wife and I ordered this combo changing tower along with the matching crib and armoire, and we were EXTREMELY unsatisfied with ALL 3! All 3 pieces came with parts broken, and this changing tower came without a single fastener in the entire box. We returned the armoire and changing tower to try again, but when we got the second shipment in, we had the exact same problem again. The crib had enough pieces in tact that we were able to only order replacement parts. However, the replacement parts also came broken. In 6 attempts to ship us furniture, Storkcraft failed miserably all 6 times.

First of all, despite some of the other reviews I read I had no problems with shipping. The item was immediately delivered after I ordered it. The box and the condition of the pieces inside were flawless. We put this together in a couple of hours and I love it!!! The drawers are long and deep and hold a lot of the baby's things. I also love the side cabinet with the shelves. It is perfect for holding baskets and other items. It is very sturdy and good quality. This will be a piece of furniture my daughter will have for years to come. Especially once she is old enough and we are done using it as a changing table, we can purchase the hutch for additional storage.

I have never taken the time to write a review before but thought this deserved one. Like many people on a tight budget I scoured the east coast for a good deal on a decent crib! I was terrified after all the reviews, but felt I should try anyway. We got the crib, combo tower and the armoire and they look beautiful! There are a few things that you can notice if you look deep enough, but they don't look like anything more than flaws in natural wood. I put all 3 peices together myself at 33 weeks pregnant, with no problem and the directions were actually very good. No missing pieces at all!! We bought ours at Baby Depot, through Burlington Coat Factory, because I didn't want to pay for shipping and they keep it in stock!!!! BIG HELP! It fit in our Altima, and Baby Depot will replace any missing or broken pieces (we didn't have any) right from the store so no dealing with Storkcraft or mail. Our nursery looks great and we did it for roughly $700. Can't beat that!! Highly recommend!!!

Hi, we bought this dresser from Amazon.com/babies r us and they sent the wrong colored dresser. We got white instead of the oak one. We have been trying to return it but we are getting no where with them. We have been waiting for about 3 weeks for the return lables and still have not gotten them. When you call the number you never get a live person. You can get this dresser at walmart and would highly suggest getting it there. The dresser was shipped in a timely fashion, all the parts were there, it was easy to put together and it came in excellet shape. I have absolutly no complaints about the product just don't buy from here.

It is hard to make an informed decision when reading the reviews. But in reality there are probably thousands of families buying this product and the only reviews are typically from people who got a damaged product. Well, damages happen with everything that goes throug the shipping process. And while there may be a few bad reviews my guess would be that the rest of the thousands of peoples are very satisfied with the products from Storkcraft.

We bought the Aspen Crib, the Changing table and hutch, and the Armoire. All pieces were in great shape and the assembly of the pieces was quite easy (If you have ever put together any piece of furniture with the cam lock devices you will be familiar with this assembly process). Anyone with a bit of mechanical aptitude should have no problems. If you do not want to assemble furniture then you should not buy this.

Shipping was timely and the assembled set is beautiful and in my sons room. The price of the furniture fits the quality and build of the furniture. I am satisfied.

My only gripe was that with the Armoire they shorted my 5 wooden dowels that I picked up at Home Depot for $1.99. Really no big deal.

I think you should not be swayed negatively by the other reviews for Storkcraft. Just realize that you may get a piece or two that is chipped or cracked. That can happen. But honestly, Storkcraft packs this furniture as carefully as they can (lots of wrapping and padding to protect the pieces). Storkcraft cannot control the shipping people who do not handle this stuff as carfully as possible.

Bottom line...If you want a reasonably priced baby set and are willing to put the furniture together you should buy this if you like it and chances are you will not have any damages.

I am very happy with the Tower. It's beautiful and sturdy. I would purchase another piece from them. But as SOON as you get it home make sure you have all the pieces. Even if you are not going to put it together immediately. I did not do that. By the time we put the rocker, crib and armoire, together the return time on my recipt was over.

Again I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND HAVING ANY OF THIER PRODUCTS SHIPPED. The packaging is not the greatest... and you run a good chance of recieving damaged pieces... They have the whole set at Burlington Coat factory. I checked it out there...

OK well this is the last piece & wouldn't you know that they forgot the side piece of my drawer...

I called customer service & the line was busy for a LONG LONG time. When I finally got through I was on hold for about 25 min. The lady was nice but a true foreigner. I made a pac with myself that I would try not to support NON-US companies. Supposibly they are located in Canada but the lady said they are in South America. This is just FYI.

I recieved my piece in 8 days via FedEx. Because of all the bad reviews; I was very woried but they came through...

The moral of the story is Storkcraft is a company that you have to have patience with. You get what you pay for and overall I am pleased with what I got.

** I did tell a little white lie that I was due in 3 weeks... I don't know if that was a factor in my fast service but hey as far as I'm concerned it worked :-)

As with most DIY furniture, having an electric screwdriver, a rubber mallet and a hammer handy makes the assembly process a lot easier. However, it still took most of the afternoon for one person to complete. Quality is good overall, but the rear support boards (which you can't see anyway) were challenging to attach b/c they weren't cut evenly and the door hangs just slightly askew. However, it looks nice and has crisp, clean lines. Arrived undamaged with all the hardware.

This is an awesome piece of furniture!!! I bought the Aspen crib, 5 drawer chest, armoire, and this combo tower. I absolutely LOVE the whole set. The pieces are a smooth semi glossy white finish. The pieces are a solid wood. I bought the set without seeing it in person and was pleased at the quality for the price. I will say it is chaper including shipping and taxes at Walmart.com. The drawers aren't quite as deep as they look in the picture but can still hold several packs of diapers and wipes. I really like this style of changer because it holds a lot more (concealed too) than the traditional open shelf style changers. Also, after your baby is out of diapers a beveled mirror can be mounted on the wall for a dresser look or you can get the matching hutch to store books and nick nacks. The assembly directions were pertty easy to follow.
