After shopping around for an affordable, yet sturdy, crib for my baby, I came across this model after the $300 model I wanted was sold out. It was on sale for $149 at the time and I was somewhat skeptical about buying without seeing it first. After reading the reviews, however, I decided to take the chance. I was pleasantly surprised! The espresso color is just the right shade for my nursery, and the crib is just beautiful. I received the item in perfect condition, and setup was pretty quick and somewhat painless. The final result was a beautiful, sturdy crib that compares well with the $500 models around. It doesnt seem to scratch easily although I cannot say how it will hold up when my little one starts chewing. I have leaned hard on it and it still holds up strong. And it grows with my baby which is most important. If you are hesitating on this model, then don't. You'll be very happy with your purchase!

4.0 out of 5 stars Great crib, darker in color, January 11, 2010

This crib was delivered Friday afternoon. My 5 and 1/2 month old has been in a co-sleeper since birth, and we decided to move him into a crib. It took my dad and husband about an hour to put it together once all the pieces were would and counted. All the pieces were there, but two of the nuts were slightly stripped (not a big deal since it is a convertible bed and the nuts can be moved).

The crib is wider than I expected, but there is plenty of room for the babe to grow into it. The bed is rock solid, and I love that it has stationary sides and comes with a side rail for the toddler bed.

There are two downsides: it is darker than pictured, it looks almost black. It does seem to scratch easily, but all baby furniture will eventually!

After finally getting sick and tired of all the crib recalls, we bought this crib on 6/25 for our now 1 year old. The outer box looked pretty rough when it got here but the manufacturers packaging inside the outer box provided by amazon was pristine. I read all the reviews about the crib arriving with scratching so I hawk-eyed every single inch of every piece of the crib. I found NO scratches. I did find 2 small imperfections in the wood itself which can only been seen when looking closely, but that comes with the territory when using real wood.

Assembly directions were very easy to follow. It took us just under an hour to assemble. There is NO WAY to put this crib together by yourself, so don't even try it. The only thing that will result is damage to the crib itself and probably a bad assembly risking your child's life.

My daughter is teething and I know some said the crib scratches very easily. She has marked up the wood on the front rail with her teeth but not through the coloring on the wood. It looks more like indentations. It's really not noticeable unless you look closely but if this is a major issue for you, you might want to go with a crib that you can put guards on.

I drove to every store and essentially looked at every crib out there. I was so worried about buying off the internet but the price was incentive enough to give it a shot. I can honestly say that the quality of this crib surpasses many of the $400 cribs I saw in the retail stores.

5.0 out of 5 stars Crib far exceeded expectations, January 22, 2011

I was a little nervous ordering this crib despite all the great reviews, because it was so cheap. It was something like [...], with free shipping because I have free Prime through Amazon Mom. The crib arrived in 2 days and is so much better than I dared hope.

It didn't have any dings or scratches like some people complained about, and it was reasonably easy to put together (it took my husband and I about an hour and a half - if we took it apart in the future, I'm sure we could reassemble it much more quickly, now that we know what we're doing). Once assembled, the crib is extremely sturdy and looks gorgeous. The wood looks and feels high-quality, and it is a rich dark chocolate color, somewhat darker than some of the pictures make it appear.

One of the best things about this crib is that it works for tall people. My husband is 6'3 and I'm 5'9, and I didn't want a crib where I would have to bend way down to put the baby in. This crib allows you to set the bed height at 3 different levels. When the baby is new, you can set it quite high to make it easy to lift the baby in and out. When he gets older and can stand up, you can set the level lower so he can't climb or fall out as easily.

I also purchased the Sealy Soybean Foam-Core Crib Mattress, and it fits the crib perfectly, nice and tight so there are no gaps on the sides.

One caveat: the crib is just a little too wide to fit through a normal bedroom door, so make sure you set it up in the room you want to keep it in. I'm sure you could take off one of the sides without too much difficulty if you did need to move it later.

We opened the crib and were really pleased with how easy it was to put together. Its very sturdy and the wood is harder then a lot of the cribs I checked out. I don't think it dents as easy. The color is really beautiful and I was really pleased with how fast it shipped.

4.0 out of 5 stars No trudle drawer otherwise v good crib, October 7, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Stork Craft Tuscany 4-in-1 Stages Crib, Espresso (Baby Product)
I bought this crib stateside and after receiving it, shipped it overseas as a gift. Packaging was still impeccable and all the parts intact. It was assembled and took no time at all. Following day had to be partly disassembled 'cos was assembled not in the room it would be used in, and was wider than door frame ... stood up OK.

Only cons are:
(a) No trudle drawer attached. The product description should be changed to remove all reference to a trudle drawer!!
(b) Looking to buy the conversion rails now (and send as gift to same party for later) - in case this model discontinued but I cannot find conversion kits anywhere for Stockcraft.

Otherwise a very good solid crib.

My husband and I got this crib for our first and we LOVE it so far. Of course the baby hasn't arrived yet. Nonetheless, I would purchase it again. A couple of things to keep in mind:
-Not really a crib you can adjust the height on by yourself. At least I couldn't. I tried to adjust it myself for a friends baby I was watching, and all I got for my effort was a big scratch in the side. Oops! But maybe you can if you're more handy than me and not extremely pregnant!
-It fits a standard sized crib mattress, but it runs a tiny bit larger. We bought a standard sized Kolcraft Pediatric 1000 mattress at first and it was too small, I could fit 3 fingers between the edge and the side. The Serta one we got to replace it fits much better though. (but not tight, like some of the Serta mattress reviews said it might)
-This is purely superficial: My cute jungle baby crib skirt is blocked by the two thicker bars in the front. How sad, there's a big stripe right in front of the Lion and the Elephant's face so you can't see them. :)

Otherwise, gorgeous, sturdy, and not cheapy. I guess what else can you ask for from a stationary side crib?

2.0 out of 5 stars Strong Odor, not good for baby, June 25, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
we bought Oak color crib. It looks good. But the smell is very strong. it's not the wood smell but chemical. I am worried about that the odor will poison my 3 month olds baby. We have to leave it outside for 2 weeks to diminish the strong smell.

5.0 out of 5 stars One Year Later...Love it Still!, January 3, 2012
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Stork Craft Tuscany 4-in-1 Stages Crib, Espresso (Baby Product)
We bought this crib in August of 2010 and have been using it since November of 2010. It assembled fairly easily and good instructions. The crib has remained sturdy, beautiful, and safe!

The crib has resisted scratching for the most part, and has resisted dings and dents even with a toddler throwing toys in and out of it. The heights of the two adjustable settings worked great for us, and low is not hard at all for me to reach (Average height woman at 5'7"). We have the espresso color, and it is very dark- nearly black, so be prepared for that if you are looking into that color.

All in all after a year I have no complaints- it's great.

We also purchased the rocker by the same brand and love it as well.
