5.0 out of 5 stars Holy Freaking Metal, Batman!, May 25, 2006

I first heard about Storm Alert in BW&BK a few weeks ago; it received a very positve review so I picked it up and all I can say is: This is an outstanding album. Anyone who grew up on 80's metal (like me), specifically the mid to late 80's Bay Area Thrash scene (Metallica, Exodus, Testament, etc.) should love this. Not a single weak song; every one is killer. Thrashy, catchy, complex but never in a boring way, and there is even a Christmas anthem! You can definitely hear their influences (Slayer, Priest, Metallica), but the cool thing is that they don't sound like any other band; they sound like Torture. If that makes sense. Most of the songs don't follow the verse, chorus, verse, chorus, brigde, verse, chorus model, and each song is unique in it's own right. While they keep every song up-tempo, this is not an album with 11 songs that sound exactly the same. Not to worry, thrash fans - while being unique, each song is filled with enough heavy yet memorable riffs to keep any headbanger happy. Hell, it's only about the 4th album that has prompted me to get off my lazy ass and write a review on Amazon, so that right there should tell ya something. Now, I don't want to go off on a rant here, but...this was originally released in 1989? How is Storm Alert not an all time classic up there with Master of Puppets or Reign in Blood? How did I not know about this band? Were they buried by their record company in the wake of grunge? Did someone get abducted by aliens? Was there jail time involved? With so many half-ass and no-ass bands having multiple album catalogues, how is it that I'm only hearing these songs 17 years after they were originally released??? I want answers dammit! OK, end of rant. In all seriousness, this is an absolute classic thrash album that anyone who is a fan of the genre should definitely own.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is how REAL METAL should sound!, May 19, 2006

This album is absolutely amazing. It's like a breath of fresh air amongst the tired, no-talent [...] I keep hearing anymore. If you see this thank you, Tom, and the rest of Torture, for keeping metal fans like me interested. I don't care what anybody says, this is the best metal album I've EVER HEARD! It is an album that MUST NOT BE OVERLOOKED. Just take my word for it and listen and then buy the album. I would've like to rate the Storm Alert 10 stars! But 5 stars will have to do.

I hope this band truly gets the respect they deserve.

I'm not joking.

This album is incredible. It has everything. An awesome singer, great riffs, great solos, and a true "uniqueness" to each song. A lot of the albums from the 80's just sounded like one long song. Not this one.

The Intro, (an instrumental which reminds me of the music from the Children of the Corn movies), Dwell Into Surreality, Slay Ride, Terror Kingdom, and the title track are my favorites. BUT THEY ALL RULE.

If you are a fan of 80's thrash metal BUY THIS!

Tom, assuming you read this, is there any other music you guys put out? If so I want to get it. Please post how to do so. Thanks

5.0 out of 5 stars Addicting thrash, November 15, 2007
This review is from: Storm Alert (Audio CD)
The title says it all. I don't know what amazes me more. The brilliance of this album, or the lack of reviews for it!! This is top quality thrash with no rehashed riffs. The guitar sound is somewhat unique in my opinion, as well as fast, crunchy, and catchy. This is better than a majority of the thrash releases in the 80's. Excellent musicianship and vocals accompanied by lots of memorable riffs.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent stuff! More metalheads need to hear this! It put a smile on my face., June 27, 2006

I like the intro, it's really takes you into the theme of the album. This is 11 tracks of good ol' fashioned Thrash Metal at it's finest. You hear the other reviewers on here. They agree with me. So check this album out if you come across it. Heck, go 'head and and buy this with the new Sodom album. 2 great albums worth the money you shell out for metal this year.
