The Brits in the Gulf War,

This review is from: Storm Command (Paperback)
I picked this book up on Amazon.com. This is another book by the head guy of the Country's presence in the First Gulf War. General De La Billiere asked for and was picked for the Gulf War command. Having read Colin Powell's autobiography and Schwartzkopf's also, this provided a new angle on the war. The British didn't have as much too lose, didn't have as much stuff to bring, and didn't have much money to spend either. The Forward was written by the Prince of Wales, who did go over and visit. I read this book while sitting in the car, so I finished it a few months after I ordered it. It was a very well written book, but as a theater commander for his country, it didn't have much in the way of action. This is a great view of the British effort during the Gulf War. I recommend this book, it's not the best book in the history of the world, but it provides a different outlook on a recent war, and one that most American's still remember. |
