3.0 out of 5 stars Core Solution, April 20, 2006
I was a little disappointed they only included 8 live songs for the DVD, the sound and picture quality were not the best, videos were ok, the documantary was a little boring to watch, I was expecting a little more, it seems they did a better job with the Emperor DVD but overall the band deliver a great performance proving they're one of the best Death/Black metal bands to emerge.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nice work!, November 22, 2008
By Pablosa (Buenos Aires, Capital Federal Argentina) - See all my reviews
To be honest,I was surprised by the quality of this DVD.
When it comes to a DVD production, ZYKLON might not have the financial support of great acts such as JUDAS PRIEST or IRON MAIDEN, but I think they managed to deliver a DVD with a very good sound and video quality. What I feared the most was that, probably, in a live show songs like "Hammer Revelation" or "Trascendental War..." may create the famous "noise-ball", but none of this happens...Every single song and instrument is clearly listeneable and understandable, without one covering the other. Even when the drums sonud like a machine gun in the fastest parts, you can actually hear every beat, every guitar fiff...

ZYKLON plays 9 full-throttle songs from their first album WORLD OV WORMS and their second album AEON, completing a 40-minute show. The camera work does the job, not too complex nor too basic. The light work and effects are very simple too, the show in general is simple, but VERY effective. And it has the best closure with what I call ZYKLON's "Painkiller", that is "Hammer Revelation", the first song from their first album, very intense with many changes of rhythms, like any other ZYKON song...A real kick in the face!...

It was great to see these guys/legends playing live considering that you have 2/3 of EMPEROR in Trym and Samoth, and 2/3 of MYRKSKOG in Sechtdamon and Destructhor. You can notice the experience of those guys, playing the fastest music and remaining cool and calm and enjoying it at the same time. And they didn't need the typical mention to the prior succesful band, EMPEROR in this case, in a medley or anything like that. You have one song after the other leaving no room for anything else. Trym is merely a machine behind the drums, doing an almost inhuman effort for 40 minutes, without a gesture in his face. After watching the DVD extras, I got to the conclusion that Trym is way TOO normal for this kind of music. Sometimes the DVD focuses too much in ZYKLON's front row, and Trym is left behind; it could have been nice to have more footage of him...And I couldn't count them, but I think Samoth has 7 fingers on each hand...

The extras are always fun, showing the band out of stage, doing nonsense, meeting the fans, rehearsals, sound checks, bootleg parts, touring (Japan 2004/ Europe 2005, including Wacken)and the usual stuff; this part should have been longer in my opinion. Then you have the two promo videos, which are nothing special, to complete a very decent package.

If you aren't too demanding, and you're into this genre, I recommend you not to miss this one. The live part is killer!
