4.0 out of 5 stars DA STORM IS DA BOMB
I have slept on these guys for years but not the rest of Boot Camp. I read some reviews here and decided to try the STORM..It defini9tely feels like its a dark stormy day in NY when I listen to this, the more I hear it the more I like it. Someone wrote that its the worst of the four Boot Camp albums at the time..Thats because Enta Da Stage and Da Shinin are 2 of the toip...

3.0 out of 5 stars OK.
O.G.C. sound like a junior version of Smif n wessun or heltah skeltah, who need to do some growing up. This album has some great beatminerz beats and a good overall mood (I like the whole "storm" thing), and Starang Wondah is one of the BCC's best rappers, but anyone who says the other two members of the group, Louieville Sluggah and Top Dog, are good rappers...

Someone wrote that its the worst of the four Boot Camp albums at the time..Thats because Enta Da Stage and Da Shinin are 2 of the toip 20 Hip Hop Albums of all time. The Storm is better than Heltah Skeltahs Nocturnal. Ruck had minimal skills. Starang is the true shiner in OGC. I love how the album has a feel to it. Its an album that should be listened to straight through to get the whole effect. The beats are great, simple and grimy, how hip hop was intended to be. Starang Hurricane is the joint on this one.

4.0 out of 5 stars Don't Sleep On This Era Of Hip-Hop (Classics), March 23, 2007
This review is from: Da Storm (Audio CD)
It is now 2007 and I still bang this classic joint. I really didn't appreciate it back in 96 because there were so many hot artists out at that time, but considering the current state of hip-hop or lack thereof, this is a certifiable classic!! One thing I always tell people was that 1993-96 was arguably the height of hip hop (before Puffy and Dupri pimped H.E.R. out).

Think about it (Nas, Rae & Ghostface purple tape, Ol Dirty, Jeru, Kool-G Rap, Keith Murray, Dice Raw who ate up BIG in a freestyle, Smif-N-Wessun, Gangstarr, Outkast, OGC, Black Moon, Heltah Skeltah, M.O.P., Madd Skillz, Smooth Da Hustler, The Chronic, B.I.G., Tupac, Flava In Ya Ear Remix, Crooklyn Dodgers, Group Home, Pete Rock and C.L. Smooth, Diamond D., The Alchoholics, Mobb Deep, Tribe Called Quest, Redman, KRS-One, even the Fugees was bangin) and countless others I omitted. All of them dropped classic joints at the same time!! That is unbelievable when yoou look at the mediocrity that exists today. Remember the Source Awards when Suge basically spit on Puffy and offered to take his artists if "they were tired of the producer dancing all in the videos."

Oh yea, don't forget Yo! Raps on MTV.

All of those artists joints still bang today and these so-called stars and producers of today would have been laughed out of a mic booth if they had to compete in that era. "Da Storm" still reigns 11 years later. Don't sleep on Louieville Sluggah, Starang, Top Dog and the shining era of hip-hop minus the flash and bling (and every other commercial on TV pimping H.E.R.)!

4.0 out of 5 stars hot album by ogc, January 29, 2006
This review is from: Da Storm (Audio CD)
this album right here is hot,the production is on point and it fits them, the beats for this album are dark, this album is good to play when its raining and you have nothing to do,what made me buy this album was the the hottest track on the album the single no fear. there are times when the album does get kind of boring, maybe its because of their style of rappin, but other than that its a good album and its recommended for fans of boot camp click.stand out tracks are Calm Before Da Storm,No Fear, and Gunn Clapp.

4.0 out of 5 stars The perfect soundtrack for a rainy Brooklyn day..., February 29, 2000
This review is from: Da Storm (Audio CD)
If it were rainin' in Brooklyn, and everything got quiet, if you listened reeeeal carefully, you might just hear the strains of "Da Storm" blowing in the wind. This really is a concept album in that all of the songs (produced with beautiful accuracy by Da Beatminerz) truly do evoke a rainy-day type of mentality. And that is to make no mention of the Gunn Clappaz themselves. Starang, Top Dog and Louieville Sluggah are among the most accomplished MCs in the Bootcamp Clik. Although Starang is most definitely head-and-sholders above the other two, they hold it down with more conviction than the average rapper in this industry. Highlights include the muffled-but-thumpin' "No Fear," the record-industry indictment "Gunn Clapp" and the Starang solo, aptly entitled "Hurricane Starang." This is yet another great album from the Bootcamp Clik, thanks to Da Beatminerz deep-yet-simple production and real MCing. But it's not for everyone. Real hip-hop never is...

5.0 out of 5 stars Classic Album from O.G.C., April 4, 2006

I'm writing the review today and the CD came out ten years ago. What does that tell you? This is a nice CD. 5 stars all the way. Good beats, good lyrics, what else to you want? Pick it up if you are looking for a good HipHop/Rap CD to buy that doesn't sound like anything you hear on T.V. these days. Too bad the Fab 5 never came out with a CD, that would have been nice.

5.0 out of 5 stars let the wata drown ya, August 27, 2004
This review is from: Da Storm (Audio CD)
My mental state is saturated from too much rain that Da Storm has brought. Each song lyrically flows like water flooding the streets of Brooklyn, destroying all buildings hiding the crackheads and the strange. Each member of O.G.C. brings the best of what the beats in their ears hum to them, especially with track 10 ("Da Storm") as singing and floetry rings with the bell in the mellow beat.
Overall, Da Storm calls out other underground mc's to step up and try to set a trend of mellow beats and flowing lyrics. I recommend this album to only the tru hip-hop heads!

4.0 out of 5 stars Semi Ol' School ROCKS, April 14, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Da Storm (Audio CD)
This was one of my favorite albums from members of one of the most lyrically prolific groups in the rap game: Boot Camp Clik. Let me write that word again: LYRICS. Top Dog, Louieville Sluggah, and Starang Wondah offer some tight lyrics throughout, with guest appearances by several BCC crew members. This album will not dissapoint the hiphop enthusiast that is not programmed into thinking that today's "rap and R&B" is the formula for a "good" album.
