Inkling into a British Warrior Mind!,
By
This review is from: Storm from the Sea (Greenhill Military Paperbacks) (Paperback)
"Storm from the Sea" in essence has many points in common with Lt. Wells' Give Me Fifty Marines Not Afraid to Die: Iwo Jima, both are books written from the guts of modern warriors and transmit to the reader their unique experience.
General Peter Young's opus is obviously more ample in its scope nevertheless both books allow the reader to get in touch with military mind in their purest fundamental nature. General Young describes the genesis, development and exploits of the British Commandos. Follow the campaigns in Northwest Europe, Mediterranean, Normandy and Burma with eye-witness recounts from Dieppe, D-Day, Termoli and Arakan amongst others. The narration has the special flavor, style & wit of British military personnel. Every word in this book sounds true. A must read for any WWII buff! Reviewed by Max Yofre.
