3.0 out of 5 stars 2 Original Albums by The Fortunes on 1 CD., June 7, 2007

This review is from: Storm in a Teacup / Here Comes That Rainy Day (Audio CD)
Here are 2 original albums by The Fortunes on 1 CD. From 1971, " HERE COMES THAT RAINY DAY FEELING AGAIN " features that classic pop song, and is the stronger of the 2 albums. The Fortunes were good at what they did -orchestrated pop songs , story-telling songs, and good melodies. " I GOTTA DREAM " , " EYE FOR THE MAIN CHANCE ", and " HEAR THE BAND " are all in that vein - upbeat pop songs. The " STORM IN A TEACUP " album from 1972 repeats 4 songs from the 1970 LP " THAT SAME OLD FEELING " . This includes the sarcastic midtempo rocker " WHETHER YOU LIKE IT OR NOT " - one of their best songs, and a couple of songs written by Jimmy Webb. " STORM IN A TEACUP " as a single was a big hit in the UK, but inexplicably was not in the US. Too bad as it's very catchy . Overall, some great & decent songs & melodies, and the ORIGINAL recordings. Includes liner notes , but no photos inside. This band deserves a more well-written history than the little that's been written.
