(RAW Rating: 4.5) - Let Go and Let God,
By The RAWSISTAZ Reviewers (RAWSISTAZ.com and BlackBookReviews.net) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Rain Storm (Urban Christian) (Paperback)
In book four of Vanessa Miller's Rain Series, drug addicted Cynda Stephens is prostituting her body to make ends meet. Cynda leaves her daughter Iona in the care of her pimp and his wife. Meanwhile, Keith Williams, a born-again Christian, feels the Lord has chosen Cynda as the woman he is supposed to marry. When her pimp threatens to put Iona to work, Cynda does something unthinkable and finds herself in big trouble. Keith comes to her rescue and the two eventually marry. However, because of the hatred she feels for her deceased mother and the hand she's been dealt, Cynda no longer believes in God and is unable to love Keith back. Keith finds himself questioning the Lord because of the trials and tribulations he goes through while trying to reach Cynda. Will Keith go against God's will and just give up and suffer the consequences of his actions? Will Cynda realize the Lord will never leave her or forsake her and learn to love Keith with all her heart and soul?
RAIN STORM is Christian fiction at its best. Vanessa Miller has done a wonderful job creating a story to be enjoyed by all readers. Cynda and Keith both have endured a lot of pain and strife in their lives, and only by the grace of God will they find the strength to carry on. I thoroughly enjoyed this novel and look forward to collecting the other books in this series. Reviewed by Pamela Bolden of The RAWSISTAZ Reviewers

God's Love,
This review is from: Rain Storm (Urban Christian) (Paperback)
Some of the things we do in our lives lead us to believe that we are not deserving of God's unconditional love. Vanessa Miller has created a story that shows us, nothing done can ever keep us from the love we ought to and will receive from God. Rain Storm deals with the fight for love and forgiveness in the lives of four individuals that are different but yet the same.
Keith Hosea Williams prayed about finding his perfect woman, but the woman he had in mind was far from what God had in his plan. Keith was lead to a crack head, prostitute named Cynda Stephens, and of course he just knew that God was wrong. Keith struggled with God's decision and for every doubtful question he asked, God always had a strong reassuring answer. Cynda had many demons, and did not believe that she was worthy of anyone's love. She stopped believing in God when her mother was killed. She hated that her mother did not protect her from the evils of the world and died leaving her alone. Cynda could not understand why God would send her a man like Keith. Always there for her, no matter how she treated him. She did not believe that he could be happy with her because she was a drug-using street walker. Isaac loved his wife Nina. Even though he loved her he had cheated on her with Cynda, years before they married. The constant tormenting of Cynda made Nina run from Isaac, but he fought for her just the same. Once Isaac realized that he only wanted one woman, Cynda crossed him and betrayed him to the police. But the other thing she did to him was so unforgivable that even though he found the love of God while in prison, he still harbored hate for Cynda in his heart. Isaac dedicated his life to trying to bring God's glory and love to his friends from his past and any others walking down that same road of destruction. How could he help others when his heart was not totally clean from the things of the past? He preached of God's forgiving heart and love but he was still struggling with forgiving others. Due to a tragic incident, Nina was told that she could never have any more children. That was what she prayed for most, to be able to give her husband another child. She kept the faith and believed that God loved her enough to give her another child. She would learn sometimes the things we want and the way we receive them is not always the way we planned, but how God wanted it. Rain Storm is a fast-paced, page-turner, must read. I recommend this book to everyone, especially those that believe because of their past indiscretions and wrong doings they do not deserve to be loved or forgiven by God and the people around them that truly love them. I've had this book for a while so yesterday I took it to the beauty salon with me so I'd have something to read while under the dyer. Once I started reading, I couldn't put it down. It's certainly a page turner. I hadn't even completed the book and I was telling everyone how good it was. So like I told them, "BUY THE BOOK". It's wonderful Christian fiction. I give this book two thumbs up, a diet coke with a cherry on top. Take a bow Ms. Miller. You got it goin' on!

This was a very touching story. At parts I could feel the tears forming in my eyes. It was definitely a page turner and I stayed up late just so I could see how God worked things out.
God is good and Vanessa shows it in her books. If you haven't read the rest of the "Rain" series books, you need to. Vanessa's stories have me feeling God's love and has me wanting to share it with the world. Thank you Vanessa for another dynamic book.

This book was a fast read. Simple and direct. You wonder 'how could this character ever change?' but by faith & the love of our Heavenly Father, anything is possible. Such broken hearted characters who learn to forgive and to love unconditionally(even love themselves) when they know that God is asking this of them. Enjoyable and an easy read.

Action,Drama,Suspense,Romannce.....etc. What more could you want?? In real life there is not a person that doesn't have their own inner issues or own personal battles, within the pages of this book, life in this Author's world is no different. In fact, Miller writes with extreme genuine strokes that reel you in and have you turning pages late into the night. The characters struggle with their inner demons and face addictions, dysfunctions and traumatic life situations that can leave the soul battered, weary, scarred -- the spirit tattered torn and bitter. But, the great thing about life and the power of God's love, grace, and mercy, is the transforming power of love, grace, mercy, kindness, patience and support shown to us by others. This book is a reflection of what it means to be ye transformed!! What a way to expand and expound upon already beloved characters. Well rounded storylines that blend together beautifully. Miller has orchestrated these novels so well you laugh, cry and cheer all along the way. Vanessa's prose is like poetry at times and guaranteed to evoke a myriad of emotions.Outrage,sympathy,humor,laughter,endearment. You can't go wrong with this book. Just make sure you have read the other books in the RAIN SERIES before you delve into Rain Storm. These are people that come to life and stick around long after the story is over.
I couldn't wait to jump into the final book 'Through The Storm'. Praise for a series well written! WELL DONE THY GOOD & FAITHFUL SERVANT!WELL DONE! You rocked this series. Excellent for gift giving. When I completed the series I purchased copies for friends and family.I am so glad I added these to my collection.Ms.Miller has definitely become a mainstay on my list of favorite authors to date. Happy reading. |
