5.0 out of 5 stars My Favorite Prine CD
I have them all and enjoy them all (well, not so much Pink Cadillac) and this one is the best. The images brought out from his lyrics are outstanding. The CD deserves a few listens to understand the pictures that he is painting in "One Read Rose" or "Sleepy Eyed Boy," but enjoy the whole thing. It's a doozy.

3.0 out of 5 stars Love Prine, but this one isn't his best.
A little too amped up for my liking. Prine definitely had adequate 'energy' when he made this record. A good record, especially if you like Prine. Bruised Orange, among others, are much better.

I've been listening to John Prine for over 20 years. I have all of his recordings. So many classics, but none any better than this. Great songs, and a great band. Anyone looking for meaningful, original music, this is it. Enjoy

Ain't nobody turn's a phrase like John Prine & in "Storm Windows" he turn's it every way but loose.Prine has got to be one of the most
under appreciated writers of our time,in this collection of song's he
hit's his stride right off the get with "Shop Talk" & "Living in the
Future" two rock-a-billy numbers that are sure to have you singin, smilin,
& shakin a leg. Then he mellow's down baby on "Sleepy Eyed Boy" & "All
Night Blue" song's that make you marvel at this guy's versatility,&
wonder where his music's been all your life.Everything about John Prine
is classic the voice, the writing,& the attitude. If you take your music
seriously, then get serious about John Prine & Storm Windows.

4.0 out of 5 stars Storm Windows Review, August 19, 2011

John Prine's never been able to replicate his original masterpiece, but I still love his albums. Even though he foolishly set up unrealistic expectations with that initial album, virtually all of his albums include a few gems worth the price of the whole collection. On this album "One Red Rose" is my favorite gem. It's one of the most beautiful, sad, and mystical reminiscences about a collapsing marriage that I've ever heard. I don't know what else I can say to describe it. You have to listen. I also love "Sleepy Eyed Boy" written for all of us who awakened too late to that one good thing in our life. It's "Happening to You" sounds like a Buddy Holly tune, but the smooth upbeat tune is belied by the resigned lyrics. As always, John knows how to use lyrics and music to create poignant moods. Some of the songs are better than others, but the good ones are well worth the price of the album.

5.0 out of 5 stars Storm Windows And One Red Rose..., June 26, 2008

This review is from: Storm Windows (Audio CD)
John Prine's Storm Windows, contain two of the best John Prine self-penned compositions in Prine's long list of cataloged material. "Storm Windows", "One Red Rose", say it all, the lyrics are way down deep inside and project what they say and mean. "Red Rose", is non-existing on any live albums, it's a crime if Prine doesn't perform this great song on stage. Storm Windows, is written about a desperate man surrounded behind dark lonely walls and everything in daily life that evolves around him and the world. This album STORM WINDOWS is something different and versitile for John Prine, a little rock-n-roll, country folk combination - "Shop Talk" and "I Had A Dream Last Night", are good rockers,- there's Prine's famous trademark finger pickin' featured on, "Sleepy Eyed Boy", also listen for, "Living In The Future", "All Night Blue". Smoothly and naturally there's the almost flawless songwriting of John Prine.
