5.0 out of 5 stars moving, truthful and insightful truly shows God's love, March 18, 1999
This review is from: Stormie: A Story of Forgiveness and Healing (Paperback)
What a wonderful book to read for anyone who has lived with mental illness themself or was a member of a family with a parent that suffered from mental illness. It shows how one woman, having grown up in a two-parent household, had an absolutley horrific childhood. Her mother locked her in a closet for hours on end and continually verbally abused her as well. As she reaches adulthood, knowing how to relate to others is tough and causes much anxiety and pain. Through much error and wrong choices during her young adult years, she meets a man who tries to tell her about the love Jesus has for her. Not really understanding what it is all about, Stormie continues down the wrong path until one day she truly opens her heart up to God! Through reading this book, one is able to gain knowledge about people with mental illness as well as learn how to experience the love and forgiveness of God.

5.0 out of 5 stars Inspirational, encouraging, life-changing, November 3, 1999

I love this book. Stormie relates the trauma and turmoil of her young life and how they led her to the point of complete physical and emotional breakdown. But when she opened her heart to Jesus, she began to learn how to walk in emotional and physical health and she relates the full story of how God miraculously and lovingly restored her to complete health in her body and most especially, her emotions. I recommend this book to many many people only I never lend out my copy - it's far too precious!

What an awesome book! I could hardly put it down. As a child, Stormie experiences physical and emotional abuse from her mentally ill mother, which led to Stormie making poor choices in her young adulthood. As an adult she experiences healing and forgiveness through Jesus Christ. THis book led me to give my life to the Lord eight years back, and I've been with Him ever since!

5.0 out of 5 stars Incredible Eye Opener, May 24, 2002

This review is from: Stormie: A Story of Forgiveness and Healing (Paperback)
My wife grew up with an abusive mother and a spineless father, so this book presented many parallels to her real life experiences. My wife left childhood with deep wounds, that left deep scars that just would not go away with without therapy and 100% dependance on Jesus Christ. Slowly but surely, the wounds and scars are being cleansed and healed. I strongly recommend this book for everyone, even if you've not lived in a house like Stormie's, you may know someone who has. This book will give you a glimpse of what many kids have to grow up with, and in many or probably most cases, live with the rest of their life. Most of all, she describes what I'm sure was a sometimes-painful-solution to acquiring a happy and normal life.

The heart breaking account of a young girl who grows up with a mountain of pain and loneliness! It helps us to see that we all have ghost in our closets and that we can over-come with the help of faithful friends who stick with us even when we turn our backs on ourselves. The miracle of Gods love and endurance and how we can continually lean on his awesomeness.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome book!, February 2, 2006
By
This review is from: Stormie: A Story of Forgiveness and Healing (Paperback)
Of all the Christian autobiographies I have ever read, this book beats them all in its ability to help people overcome issues such as child abuse, unforgiveness, or hatred and rage toward people who have hurt them physically and emotionally. If you read this book and apply the principles that Stormie learned through her own experiences, you will receive true deliverance through Jesus Christ. I'm going to recommend this book to everybody who is dealing with problems associated with those issues. Again, this book is outstanding!

This book was fabulous! It gives hope to the hopeless, and really helps you to believe that the power of the holy spirit can work. I was very moved and recommend it to anyone, especially someone is not familiar with Christ. Anyone in recovery from any addiction will find hope and strength in this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Spirit of God has anointed me to heal the broken hearted, January 28, 2008

This review is from: Stormie: A Story of Forgiveness and Healing (Paperback)
Even for those who have been brought up in a loving family, this book will be deeply moving. To those who have experienced an unhappy childhood, lacking love and perhaps experiencing abuse, this book will surely encourage one to believe that Jesus is indeed the one who is anointed to heal the broken hearted and bring hope, healing and wholeness to any who turn to him.

Stormie tells her story with amazing frankness and honesty. Truly this is a book that cannot be put down. The pain, trauma and emotion flow from each page with heart rending effect. In the final chapter where she tells of sharing her story in a women's prison, its impact on the inmates reflects its moving power as she relates how Jesus Christ took the broken pieces of her life and made her whole. If you know anybody who has suffered abuse and broken relationships this book is a must read for them, but it is highly recommended to all readers whatever their background.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Blessed Heart, June 24, 2006

This review is from: Stormie: A Story of Forgiveness and Healing (Paperback)
I feel blessed to have had the opportunity to have a look into Stormie Omartian's life and heart. It was easy to relate to the open way she told her story, through pain and loss, through mistakes and fear, through faith and triumph. She got real, more real than I even expected, and she truly touched my heart. As I read, I felt the grace of God covering her writing and allowing her to express the truth of her faith and her experiences in a way that could heal and bless others. When you read this book, no doubt, your heart will connect with Stormie's story and feel just as blessed as mine did. God bless you, Stormie. And thank you for your courage...
