Currently the only other review for this recording offers three stars... but the review itself, unsurprisingly, reads more like a five star revue! I could not agree more with the comments already made. Intriguing,creative and masterly perfomed music - something very special is happening with these three players as they both feed and support each other through a brilliantly crafted set of originals and one cover, McCartney's "Blackbird" like you never heard it before.

There's fire,passion Storms/Nocturnesand consumate skill from the very first note on the very first track "Blues For Little Joe", and the joy and artistry never stops until the final note on the cd. Plenty of reflective moments to savour too with Garland's "I'll Meet You There" and "Turn & Return". Both are extremely seductive in mood and performance. Keezer and Locke also display their significant composing chops on what is a truly cooperative outing of equals. Listen to the third track "Hibiscus" and the eighth track "The Lost Lenore" to understand what I'm talking about.

I sometimes don't agree with the professional critics but on this occasion the DownBeat reviewer got it almost right with his 4 1/2 star rating. However, for me, nothing less than the full 5 stars comes near. Beautiful music.

This CD would be a great addition to anyone's CD collection who LOVES Jazz and is looking to find someone "new" to add on the shelf. It has definate Corea overtones to it, but has it's own flavor to be sure. This album could have easily been an old ECM gem from the 70's. The sound that this trio gets is huge, its really great; and with out a drummer, or a bass player one might be wondering "how would a trio like this keep up the intensity?"; well, just pop it in a listen. The second track is worth the price of the CD alone, if you are a fan of composition as well as improvisation. The writing/arrangements are solid all around, which is such an overlooked part of any album sometimes, and the playing is great especially Geoff Keezer, not to overshadow the other guy's by any means, but yeah... WOW.
