5.0 out of 5 stars Delightful

Reading Stormspell was an experience to remember. And I would gladly eperience it again and again.

I bought a copy of the book, read it and loved to share it with friends, so when somebody borrowed it I didn't hesitate to lend it but the person didn't return the book to me. Boo-hoo!

My friends from the office also loved the book and are also trying to look for...

I bought the book on a whim, because the brief description sounded interesting. I bought the book on a whim, because the brief description sounded interesting. The book is romance set around 1960s (or as far as I can surmise) that starts on a Caribbean island when a very sheltered young girl finds a shipwrecked man who turns out to be the heir to a powerful business empire. Trying to place myself in that time setting, I could see that Ruth Jason was a strong young woman who courageously coped as best as she could when thrust into the harsh realities of the world. My problem was more with Dominic. For someone so much older, he came across as someone who let the circumstances shape him rather than taking charge of his own life. Not quite weak-willed, but he seemed content to float, bowing to the wishes of his father or his fiancee because it was too much trouble to resist. As a result, I felt that he was unintentionally cruel to Ruth by abandoning her to her devices although, of course, the story resolves in happy ending. A well-written book, but it is quite old-fashioned by today's standards.
