I was surprised and disappointed to find this collection does not include the WildC.A.T.S./Aliens crossover, which is vital to the Stormwatch story and takes place between the last two issues of the old Stormwatch series. Because of this, the last major development of Ellis' Stormwatch run now occurs "off-camera." There is no clear listing on the product page of what this hardcover includes, but DC's recent release plans for Stormwatch and Authority hardcovers implied that the books would completely replace the old Warren Ellis / Mark Millar paperback collections. Presumably some problem with licensing the Aliens from Fox for the reprint caused this, but since this issue was resolved before in the paperback collection, I don't see why an agreement couldn't be made. It's puzzling that DC published the book like this.

Storm Watch Volume 2 Hard Cover contains the final 3 issues of Series 1 as well as the 11 issues of Series 2. But wait, there is something missing you say? Yes there is. Wildcats/Aliens which is a CRITICAL issue in the Stormwatch series (takes place between issues 10 & 11) is not present.

This is a grave oversight in my opinion (probably had issues getting the reprint rights that delayed SW: Final Orbit tpb for so long).

I'm sure this will affect quite a few buyers decision to purchase this book (especially if you, like me though you'd be upgrading from the tpb).

If you just want the book for your collection have at it. If you've never read the series before, stick with the trades (or buy Final Orbit as wells as this).

I have the existing paperback collections but could not resist switching to a hardcover. Little did I expect this would be a downgrade. As other reviews have highlighted one of the keys from this run WildCATS/Alien crossover is omitted while it was included in the original paperbacks - so know you are left with an uncomfortable lurch between the second last and last chapter in this collection. If this was included this would a five star review and I do not like knocking the work of Messrs Ellis, Raney, Ryan, Jimenez and Hitch on the basis of an obvious publisher decision - but I am knocking this right down.
First highlight for me is the first part of this book with "Change or Die" where the Weatherman's real agenda is revealed. Personally I love the fact that he resembles Charles Xavier from the X-Men so he is like an evil mirror of that comics icon.
The second highpoint is the debut of Midnighter and Apollo with the art of Bryan Hitch. Again Mr Ellis is subverting the comics convention with the two characters being a distortion of two of the biggest comic icons with a delicious spin to it.
Great content but with A GLARING GAP.
Shame on you DC, Shame on you.
