5.0 out of 5 stars Passionate love story beginning with a sudden marriage...., August 4, 2005
Iris Johansen at her best - fabulous, romantic novel. Back cover - Fiercely proud of her independence, Brenna Sloan felt her assurance crumble under Michael Donovan's forceful approach. They were both fighters, but Brenna wasn't strong enough to reach out for the love she needed, and Michael only knew how to take - until he met Brenna. With tantalizing persuasion, he overcame her objections, urged her into a sudden marriage, and carried her away. Only after a heartbreaking misunderstanding nearly destroyed their happiness did they surrender to the fiery ecstasy of their passion. But could Michael convince Brenna that his promise to love her was forever?

4.0 out of 5 stars possessive Hero, August 27, 2011
Budding 20yo actress with a 2yo son gets special treatment by filmmaker Hero who feels so possessive with her that he has a tough time dealing with her son b/c he's fathered by another man. Heroine doesn't tell him of her son's true paternity due to the promise she made to her late sister. A man from her past reappears & threatens to expose her secret & take her son away from her. How will Hero react to her secret?

Some good & bad points. It was emotionally involving & was a fast read. Good sexual tension & love scenes. I liked Johansen's possessive Hero but I didn't like how controlling he got with heroine & how he tried to separate her from her son. I liked heroine's loyalty & caring towards her sister & son but her keeping the secret from Hero didn't make a whole lot of sense. It gave her more problems than was necessary. The big secret was obvious to me from the start but Johansen drew it out in an intriguing way.

Still pretty good for an 80s book. Recommended.
