Editorial Reviews

Produced for the Marine Corps in 1951 by director John Ford and titled "This Is Korea," the video documents the role of the First Marine Division during the Korean War from 1950-1951. Includes some excellent combat footage, scenes of Marines involved in various activities (chow, mail call, church services) at their base camp at Masan. Video also includes Marines involved in close air support, firing Pershing tanks, artillery support, and the evacuation of wounded from the front lines. The Chosin Reservoir campaign is reviewed. Brief scenes of Gen. O.P. Smith presenting medals to Marines in the field and then-Col. Chesty Puller directing artillery fire.
