Format: Board book
This book and the authors many others are so perfect for toddlers. Simple words and pictures help explain the meaning and customs of many holidays and traditions, making it a nice way for toddlers to understand. The board book style allows for little fingers to request multiple readings. And we all know how repetition helps them learn. They make great gifts, too.

I admit its only a children's book, but its historically off and I'm not going to teach my kids false history. While its cute to look at now, I won't be reading this to my soon. Disappointing

Just what I wanted for my grandaughters! A little American History before they move to Canada! Don't want them to forget the USA!

I bought this book as a gift for my daughter for Independence Day this year. It's a wonderful way to introduce young children to a key part of American history. I also enjoy how the illustrations in Pingry's books always seem to include animals, such as dogs and cats, which help to keep two year old's attention.

As a gift for my grandchildren to begin understanding our country's history this was excellent.
If this author has more for other American holidays I would definitely purchase them.

I bought this for our 3-year-0ld grandson. It is easy to understand for him. I would've prefered it was not a board book because his thinks they are babyish.

I bought this book (and others similar) primarily for pre-school grandchildren to introduce a little meaning to holidays and their country. Since they are board books, the older elementary children think of them as "baby books", however, seem to enjoy looking through them and verbally adding more facts (or asking questions). The book seems to take a few facts from history in order to highlight a special day.The wording and pictures are simple and thus the story easily remembered. My grandchildren of all ages seem to recall these books with growing up and the holidays.
