An inspiring and dramatically paced introduction to the Prophet and Founder of the Baha'i Faith, The Story of Baha'u'llah presents in a clear narrative style the life of the Prophet from His birth into a wealthy and noble family, through His transforming spiritual experience while incarcerated in the infamous Black Pit of Tehran, and over the decades of harsh and increasingly remote exile that followed. Woven into the story are Baha'u'llah's principal teachings and references to historical events and persons that place the development of the new religion in a global context. This book chronologically follows the story told in Release the Sun (Baha'i Publishing, 2003).
I have lived on two continents and traveled further, but these days my writer window looks out on New York, where I watch the woods change with the seasons as I work. I am a biographer and poet, and more informally a blogger. I read more nonfiction than fiction and write to answer questions - my own and my readers'. In "The Story of Baha'u'llah: Promised One of All Religions" I use the techniques of fiction to tell a true story, which makes it part of the compelling new genre called creative nonfiction.
I enjoy learning how arts, science, and the Baha'i Faith converge in the dynamics of creativity, a paradigm which I write about - along with other topics of interest - in my blog "Luminous Realities: Exploring the Creative Process" at http://luminousrealities.blogspot.com/.
I love the language of poetry and that we are learning the languages of animals. I am intrigued with the science of minds, that brains change with experience, the human race evolves, and that true religion opens imagination, mind, and heart to new, undreamed-of possiblities.
I have a BA in English Literature, an MA concentration in TESOL, and training as a writing workshop leader in the Amherst Writers & Artists method developed by Pat Schneider. My poetry has appeared in World Order Magazine, Orison, and other publications.
