Excellent book, with valuable information. Growing up in Chicago, I can remember bits and pieces of this fabulous historical account and how it impacted the lives of my own family. Close to the Chess Record Dream, and the love child of one of its infamous recording artist, I pour over everything that helps to uncover the personal puzzles of my past. Looking for more on...

3.0 out of 5 stars Good companion to the movie "Cadillac Records"
I read this book before watching the film "Cadillac Records". Taken together it gave me a better understanding of that musical era. I am looking forward to hearing Etta James in person in two weeks at the House of Blues in Chicago.
