Nochie Chukwurah, a storyteller from Nigeria, tells three stories to an audience of American pre-school children in the traditional style of the African storyteller. Dressed in authentic Nigerian garb, he uses expressive pantomime, gesture, and vocal interpretation; he sometimes interjects song and response, as well as percussion sound effects. Before and after each story he takes time to explain the moral of each, which center around the themes of selfishness, stealing, and good deeds. The three stories he narrates are: Two Sisters, Mr. Dog and Mr. Turtle, and The Three Girls and the River. This video was produced in 1992 and is in color.
