Pretty Good Book for a Forgotten Celebrity.,
By Lynn Ellingwood "The ESOL Teacher" (Webster, NY United States) - See all my reviews (VINE VOICE) (REAL NAME)
This review is from: DAVY CROCKETT (A Yearling Biography) (Paperback)
Davy Crockett isn't as famous as he was in his day. This book provides a good overview of his life and why he was so famous. I was especially touched that he lost his house seat in Congress due to a vote against Jackson't Indian Removal Act. Way to go Crockett! He should be a hero doing just that but he wrote about life in the American Frontier and died at the Alamo too.

Great Book on an almost Forgotten American Hero,
By L A. (NY USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: DAVY CROCKETT (A Yearling Biography) (Paperback)
Excellent book for young readers about an American Hero who died at the Alamo. I recently rented the original 3-part mini-series ("Davy Crockett, Indian Fighter","Davy Crockett Goes to Congress", and "Davy Crockett At the Alamo") and thoroughly enjoyed it. This is from the 1950's TV show by Disney. The movies are a bit hokey but great for kids to get an idea of what Davey was about. This book goes into greater detail and is recommended.
