Even before it hit the theaters Toy Story 3 was a classic (a pretty impressive feat). This storybook captures the movie story and style perfectly with easy to read (albeit a bit long) text and beautiful illustrations (my favorites are the ones from Sunnyside in the daytime and at Bonnie's house). If you've seen Toy Story 3 (or even if you haven't) and you're not sure your kids are ready for it (there are some scary/dramatic moments in the movie), the Toy Story Read Aloud Storybook is a great introduction to the movie plot. Although nothing has been edited from the book, the drama isn't as vivid as in the movie and it's a great way to ease into what turns into a tense situation for the toys. My one disappointment with the book isn't that it doesn't feature Mattel's Barbie and Ken dolls (though they do appear in a few illustrations). Barbie and Ken's humor was a highlight of the movie for me (as well as much of the audience) and I wish they could have been in the book more (I would guess that an agreement with Mattel kept them out). Other than that, a great story book for Disney*Pixar's most successful film to date (yes, it surpassed Nemo).
