More tasty adventure from those Rheostatics,
By ian melchinger (New Haven, CT USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Story of Harmelodia (Audio CD)
It's hard to imagine someone discovering this review who doesn't already love the Rheostatics - why else would you know about them? -- but if you have any concerns about "Harmelodia", don't worry. It's a sweet and strange children's story, sure, but it's also a solid and rich sonic adventure as only they seem to be doing in this decade. If "Progressive Rock" records from old have worn out their thrill on your shelves, and you'd like all that musical and lyrical creativity with a little more honest emotion and fun holding it together, then come and get it!

You Couldn't Have Asked for a Better Disc,
This review is from: The Story of Harmelodia (Audio CD)
I got this disc for Xmas and it was a great surprise. I was already a big Rheos fan but once again they have struck out for new musical ground, much as they did with their last collaboration with Kevin Hearn, SONGS INSPIRED BY THE GROUP OF 7. Not only is this a wonderful concept album which tells a story of individuality and artistry, it is packaged in a little hardcover children's book with illustrations by guitarist Martin Tielli, whose artwork graces most of the band's album covers.Great job, guys. It was great seeing you in concert recently.

I Fab This Record.,

This review is from: The Story of Harmelodia (Audio CD)
The only part of this album I don't like (or should i say is that it gets tiresome) is that the narration gets in the way of the songs at times. All the songs are brilliantly crafted. The only "children's" album I own.Dave Bidini's story is touching, and also very interesting. This is one of the best of one of the most underrated.
