I wanted to learn a little more about Katie Rose and about preemies in general. Even though I have no personal experience with preemies I believe this book will be an invaluable resource for anyone who is interested in premature birth and in how the entire family is affected and involved. It's an absolutely fabulous and direct way of helping siblings understand what is happening and why their life has turned upside down. The depth of information presented makes it a perfect primer on preemies for anyone, and the photographs alone can help the littlest ones grasp the situation. How wonderful to be able to show them how Katie Rose, and her care, changes from week to week. They can imagine their own tiny sibling getting bigger and stronger as they follow along with Katie Rose on her mysterious journey.
"A Preemie's Journey" is a wonderful story - miracles can happen. I highly recommend this book to parents of preemies, as well as their family members and friends.
I would highly recommend this book to anyone who is dealing with a preemie. It is well written and even tho it is targeted toward younger siblings, it would be helpful and comforting for parents, grandparents, and friends. NICU is a scary world for everyone. Every obstetrician and pediatrician should have a copy in his or her waiting room.
The journey of Katie Rose was well written and photographed, so provides a good resource for family & friends of a premature baby. I shared it with my young grandchildren (ages 7, 4 and 3) and they were interested in seeing how she progressed, and asked questions about all the special care given to her and her family in the NICU. They were happy to see the photographs of Katie Rose and her progress, and especially enjoyed the photo of her on her 3rd birthday.
I've passed a copy on to a pediatrician friend for her use. I highly recommend this beautiful story of Katie Rose.
