Polar bears, floods, guns and jam...a thrilling read!,

Brilliant little illustrated book where 3 little children find the river rising and sweeping their house away. They escape on a ladder and put the youngest, Bobtail, into a basket till they manage to board a deserted ship. But a polar bear comes on board (super picture of it climbing the rigging after them). They shut it in the deckhouse; 'what shall we do if it breaks out?' said Little Black Rag. 'Let's feed him with jam' said Little Black Tag. The bear ends up shot and everyone sails home happily. This would have an infant reader totally absorbed.
