This is an excellent resource book for RCIA classes and for anyone interested in studying the Catholic Mass - the liturgy of the Word and Liturgy of the Eucharist - from the time of successors to the Apostles, the Early Church Fathers through the middle ages to present times

A Resource for Today,

This review is from: The Story of The Mass (Paperback)
In the light of the changes to the English text of the Mass to be implemented on Nov. 27, 2011 this book has a lot of relevance. It gives the basic facts that help us appreciate better the Mass of Second Vatican Council and also understand the present changes in the newly translated text. Redemptorist Father Pierre Loret has a clear grasp of the history of the Eucharist and he explains it in simple terms. "Liturgy had been seen as a set of immutable rubrics" Archbishop Weakland of Milwaukee notes in the forward. It remains true even today. Most of the time what is lacking is a sense of history. This book provides it. I recommend this as a resource book to any student of the liturgy of the Eucharist.
