Too Ethnocentric,

The book opens by explaining how God became upset, and eventually flooded the earth, because "other" peoples--but not our people--were murdering and fighting wars.
The suggestion that wars and bloodshed are only things other "bad' peoples do--rather than a flaw shared by all peoples--misreads Genesis and goes against the golden rule of children's books which is to emphasize our common humanity. It is hard to think of a more inappropriate message to give to a child. |
