5.0 out of 5 stars Complete and accurate, February 26, 2002

This review is from: The Story of Passover (Board book)
This excellent board book is a simple, historical account of Passover as found in the book of Exodus. It's wordy enough to be enjoyed by older children. The colorful pictures still capture the attention of younger children. Candy Cane Press has a whole series of board books covering all sorts of holidays, and I've liked every one of them. The perspective is religious, but not preachy. I appreciate the simplified but accurate stories

3.0 out of 5 stars the story of Passover, April 1, 2011

This review is from: The Story of Passover (Board book)
A steady book with really nice pictures. However, the pictures are the only thing I liked about the book. It mostly describes 10 plagues (punishments), does not explain who moses was and never mentions splitting the Red Sea. The publishers claim that "parent will want to use this book to introduce the celebreation of the Passover to their toddlers", but in my opinion the language used in the book is not appropirate for toddlers. Sentences are rather short, but they use such words as "house of bondage", "gnats" and never really explains what slave is. I mean it is just stated that Hebrews (another strange word) became slaves and nothing is mentioned about hard work and bad conditions.
Still, my 3 year old loves the pictures, so may be parents can use the bokks to tell the story in their own words.
