Peace in an imperfect world,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: The Story of Peace (Paperback)
"The Story of Peace" is a well written and inspirational story. The author, Miriam Ezeh, quickly draws the reader into the lives of a girl named Peace and her younger brother, Lawrence. The brother and sister are left to care for themselves when the horrors of war leave them orphans. Peace uses her deep faith in Christ to face the life and death challenges of an imperfect world."The Story of Peace" is a tribute to all people who embrace the will of God with open hearts and who hold fast to the belief in the Mercy of Jesus Christ. Joan L. Kelly, author of Christian adventure stories

This was a very engaging book from the begining. As I read each page I could not wait to read the next. I was often engrossed and seemed to be preasent in the moment..intriguing. The lessons in the book were phenomenal and I think everyone old enough to read, should read this. It definitely brings to life our moral values and how we can live them in this day and age without seeming an outsider to society. It is a must read and I can not wait to read this author's next book. Every high school should carry this book in their library.

An Inspirational Love Story,
By
This review is from: The Story of Peace (Paperback)
In her debut novel, Miriam Ezeh introduces readers to Peace Udomon. Peace is a single, hardworking young woman who is trying to come to terms with the death of her parents. As a promise to her parents, Peace struggles to raise her teenage brother and to keep him from getting involved in the controversy between two villages in Africa. When seeking assistance from her godparents did not help, she turned to an outsider, John Williams. John was a doctor from the US who had recently returned to the homeland of his deceased mother. His assistance and faith eventually became life dependant for Peace.Ezeh has given readers a wonderful story of love, faith and strength. The focal point of the story was on Peace's unconditional love for God and her family. She depended on her growing faith in John to help her get through the tragic war. However, the story fell short because it left out important details regarding the location of the villages, the war and its origin. Despite what it lacked, I found the story enjoyable. Priscilla C. This review is from: The Story of Peace (Paperback)
This book can be used in any highschool literature class, it's also entertaining, gripping, thoughtful, intriguing... It's great easy reading that comes with a great message of hope while also teaching others of the importance and significance of culture and faith. Any religious denomination can read this. It does a great job of pointing that out because it doesn't matter what type of church you go to, we all should be encouraged and have hope and faith that great things will come if we believe. It's a page turner, you can wait to find out what's going to happen next. The author also does a GREAT job in pulling you into the atmosphere and the characters are so well described they could be someone you know. It's great, can't wait to read more!!

Review, on Behalf of my daughter......,
By JD McNichol (Vancouver, WA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Story of Peace (Paperback)
Long before my association with Bezalel books, I was thankful that they were producing good fiction titles for young people. In an era when so much in the way of published work goes out of its way to push children away from authentic truths and values, Bezalel Books has been putting out titles for years now to counter the tide and shore up a parent's efforts to creature a culture where life is valued and God is praised instead of mocked. My daughter liked Ezeh's plot choices the best in this novel. [spoiler warning!] The death of a character's family member took her particularly by surprise. A tough critic, she did mention she'd have liked to see more development among some of the minor characters. Still, for those who know my daughter, this small amount of criticism constitutes high praise! :) As a teacher myself, I increased the star rating from 4 to 5 overall, for the good study questions that appeared at the end of the story. This would not only be a good fiction novel for girls, but comes with a ready-made short curriculum as well for home-schooling parents looking for good reading material and chapter-by-chapter study questions for your child to work with.

I have had this book for a while but consumed with other books I have to read. However I picked it up one morning to read at least a few pages. I was immediately drawn to the main character Peace and her village. The author is truly gifted in brining alive the details and painting a vivid image in your mind of the characters and setting. If you have read Things Fall Apart then you will appreciate and like this book.I am still far from reaching the end but I'd like to say that the story line is very culturally accurate of the tribe Peace belongs to. To end this, you will enjoy this realistic journey into the world of an ethnically rich and passionate people of Nigeria and learn something of their way of life.

THE POWER OF FAITH,
This review is from: The Story of Peace (Paperback)
THIS BOOK WAS A WONDERFUL STORY OF FAITH AND THE POWER OF GOD'S LOVE. IT WAS UPLIFTING AS WELL AS GRIPPING, AS YOU COULDN'T WAIT TO FIND OUT WHAT HAPPENS NEXT. I WAS MOVED BY THE REALIZATION THAT THERE ARE MANY WHO ACTUALLY LIVE THIS KIND OF LIFE, IN FEAR AND UNCERTAINTY. WHAT DO THEY DO IF THEY DON'T HAVE THE GIFT OF GOD'S GRACE, AS PEACE DID. BEAUTIFUL STORY OF CHASTE LOVE AND COMMITMENT.

The Story of Peace,

This review is from: The Story of Peace (Paperback)
I loved how the author painted such a clear picture of how people's lives are lived in such contrast to each other. It is so true how many people living daily life with only the simple things in life appreciate and recognize the Lord Our GOD for their strength and abundance. In contrast many live in a big city with material things, going about their lives completely ignorant to how challenging a family's life may be in another country on the very same day...It blows my mind. I thought she did a great job illustrating how good people can be and focused on the morals and values that we should all live by. Great job, your awesome! I'd like to read more books by you some day.

Great Message of Love!!!!!!!,
By
This review is from: The Story of Peace (Paperback)
I just finished reading the book; excellent ;-)! I mostly enjoyed how the author took the opportunity to minister and teach the readers about Christ's love. Not only did the character Peace exemplify the definition of her name, she also demonstrated whether you are mother-less, father-less, sibling-less, etc., our heavenly Father always stands by and takes care of us; just pray and believe that God will take care of you. Stand on His Word. Even for John, God gave him such peace to continue the work necessary to heal God's people. What an awesome example of servant hood. I can go on and pick out ways God expects us to live in this story; but it is written, get a copy and read ;-). Youth leaders, I encourage you to assign this reading to your youth group. What an awesome way to teach on God's love and purpose in our lives, as well as right relationships with each other.
